Is the persons body drawn on top of the existing background by distorting the colors or is it done by itself, either way it's done so skillfully

I’m an idiot but is it really accurate to call these paintings Impressionism and not surrealism? Can stuff be two things? Whatever you call it, I adore these!

Surrealism is about elements out of place, of the surreal, impressionism is about impressions; non-literal broad strokes vibesy feels, impressions of a thing rather than the strictly literal lines of it. I'd say these are just really really impressionist, and not particularly surrealist. Not that a thing can't be extremely both.
