What exactly about leftist points of view do you find "untenable"?
Explaining what exactly your question is will go a long way towards people being able to answer.
a certain amount of leftyness seems perfectly appropriate to me if you can believe it i even believe that there are people who can hardly be dealt with in any other way but im talking about leftyness on this platform where in my opinion there are lots of absurd opinions that cannot be countered with arguments now of course there are also views here that run counter to rational thinking but after a year here it seems to me that most users despite perhaps productive views are still somewhat reasonably willing to accept arguments and if not in my opinion its best to simply ignore them
i mean unfortunately were still quite a long way from facebook or even reddit or truth social here so it seems to me that there is at least a willingness to discuss things here which is why i cant really understand why anyone would want to undermine that and im not referring to you at all of course and i very much appreciate your response

You're gonna have to be specific. You can't ask people to explain the motives behind "lefty thought" on lemmy when it encompasses everything on the left. We've got Marxists, Leninists, anarchists, Stalinists, anticapitalists, tankies, anti-authoritarian socialists, democratic socialists, syndicalists, liberals, etc, etc, etc
Not to mention people whose political goals align with leftist thought. Feminists, LGBTQIA people, people of color, immigrants, people who want to help the poor / homeless / mentally ill.
