Working from home was a difficult transition for me, but adding plants (and having good light) make all the difference. I thought you folks would approve.

This is a beautiful setup!

[-] verdeviento@mander.xyz 7 points 1 year ago

Lovely, thank you for sharing! For some reason I can't see any comments in jerboa atm, so please excuse if this has already been asked. What is the tall one on the left, and is it happy to stay away from the light? All office greens complain when they're not plastered up against a window.

I love it! Looks great. I'm jealous, I've had to severely limit my houseplant numbers and locations because my cats will try to eat anything and everything, even the plants that supposedly sting or taste awful to them. I'm hoping they grow out of it one day so I can have something set up like this!

[-] Lui@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 year ago

This is my dream set up. Absolutely gorgeous!!! Half nature half tech

[-] ouroborostorus@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

Gorgeous! I agree that having plants around makes working from home so much better. I have an ivy on my desk that has grown so much alongside my career! What kind of mouse is that? Looks ergonomic af.

This is beautiful.

[-] threetails@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Is that the Rocinante!?

Also, nice plants!

[-] Cris_Color@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

God damn thats beautiful!

[-] Strangian@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

I love the vibe! Being surrounded by life has a way of making a room feel so peaceful

[-] FlyingSquid@mander.xyz 3 points 1 year ago

I'm so jealous. I've never had a green thumb and we have almost no direct sunlight in our house, so plant growing just is never going to be a thing. But I grew up with a mother and grandparents who filled their houses with plants and I do miss it.

[-] CamilleMellom@mander.xyz 3 points 1 year ago

Wow it looks so good!

[-] Kiwi9412@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Welcome to the jungle, u gonna die :)

Me and my partner love having plants indoors but we get infested with gnats. We've tried hydrogen peroxide, and the yellow insect stickies and drying the soil out but nothing seems to work.

Any tips?

[-] tookmyname@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago

If you want solution that actually works:

https://www.amazon.com/Primesource-Imidacloprid-75WSP-Select/dp/B07L4P9TXD/ref=mp_s_a_1_14?keywords=Merit+insecticide&qid=1688354916&sr=8-14

1/4 tsp per gallon of water. Water with it once or twice. Done for a long time, they won’t come back.

-I work with commercial flowers.

I’m not a fan of pesticides on my food, but for ornamentals indoors I see no issue with is.

[-] NoRamyunForYou@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 year ago

Oooh is it true that its pretty toxic for pets?

[-] wiz@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Try neem cake on top of the soil, it stinks, but it's pet friendly. It saved my drama ficus twice. Also, you might be overwatering

[-] NoRamyunForYou@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 year ago

Haha, is it a really strong stink?

Looks interesting. Also seems to have nutrients as well. Will look into this. Thank you!

[-] wiz@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

it's not a deal breaker and after a few days it should go away, also depends on how much you use. I also used to mix it with soil, it might reduce the smell but I don't bother lately since I don't use too much. And it's for sure better than spraying neem oil around lol

[-] NoRamyunForYou@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 year ago

Thanks. Will keep this in mind going forward :)

[-] emi@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Systemic granules. These are the solution, hands down. I’ve tried absolutely everything and this is the only solution that genuinely works. Neem oil did nothing. Mosquito bits kinda work, but they only kill the larvae and you have to keep re-applying it. Systemic granules will solve the problem

[-] NoRamyunForYou@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 year ago

Seems to really do the trick, but potentially toxic to pets?

[-] emi@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah, if you choose to use it, keep it away from kids and pets.

[-] LostCause@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

So beautiful! I tried to plant basil from the supermarket 3 times and it died 3 times. I wish I had your skills and knowledge to keep so many plants alive.

[-] Nemmies@mander.xyz 3 points 1 year ago

Keep a plant journal! Write down what a plant needs (light, water, fertilizer, conditions) and then keep a daily log of what you did each day. Also look at your plants daily and you’ll be more likely to notice if it seems to need anything. :)

[-] Twelve20two@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 year ago

It's beautiful! I want more plants for my apartment, but I have to find some that my cat won't to nibble on, won't hurt her if she does nibble anyway, and also isn't difficult to care for

[-] dipbeneaththelasers@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Oh holy shit! That's gorgeous.

[-] LogLurker@mander.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

Fantastic vibes. Are the plants getting all their light from the window or do you have grow lights in there too?

[-] JorMaFur@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

That looks amazing!

[-] bulbz@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

This looks awesome

[-] EdherJr@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

I quite like the chair. Once I started working from home it took some time for me to break a few cheap chairs before I finally decided to up my spending and get one that will hopefully last.

[-] BroBot9000@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah I’m at that point. Got my first chair and wasn’t disappointed with it but after a few months it really starts to wear down your back. So figured I should get something decent instead of getting a cheap replacement again and again.

Thanks for sharing the link.

[-] petejones@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

I have that same chair. It infuriates me. Lots of support, thick padding, sturdy. Huge amounts of adjustment. So close to great. But the damn thing just won’t go low enough so it’s always pressing on the back of my thighs unless literally tilted forward. And the lumbar support is just a bit too much and starts to fatigue after me after a while regardless of the height you set it at. Mind you I’m 6”, 230lb. I think it’s specifically a “Big and Tall” chair, but it’s not described that way. I’ve had worse though.

[-] Gee2oo40@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Some birds and a vine snake will make it even better. Love it!

[-] introvrt2themax@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

Plant goals!

[-] rgb_leds_are_love@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

This is so beautiful!

Swear to fucking god, if mine were this beautiful, I just won't get any work done!

[-] Nathandee@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

What would be the reason why 12 people downvoted? Just curious. Man is just showing his setup and plants

[-] catlover@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

is that a keychron keyboard? i have a 75% one, but suprised how the full sized looks cool too. also love the plants and that small vent

[-] Narrrz@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Lovely! My fiance and I have just (finally) moved into a place of our own, hope i can get it looking like this!

[-] kratoz29@lemmy.fmhy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

A mix of technology and nature, I like it.

[-] cpt_crunch@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

This is how my living room is. People always make snide comments like we live in a jungle but it makes it so peaceful. I wish my office was like this! Need my wife to buy more plants lol - something I never thought I’d say

[-] KuroJ@lemmy.world -1 points 1 year ago

I’m not even a plant person but I love this setup!
