This article appears to be syndicated from the AP? Not entirely sure how that works.
Basically the AP writes it and other news organizations can pay to pick it up verbatim. So there is some editorial control in that a news org chooses (or doesn’t) to pick up a particular story.
Not being white passing was this guys crime.
I will say that one thing that I'm now glad for in moving to the southwest is that the houses here majority have a front steel security door. I don't think I will ever have another house without one ever again.

once due process is out the window and illegal searches are carte blanche you no longer live in a country with law. democracy means nothing at that point. a feudal society that respects due process and does not do searches without warrants would have more rights.
