Started Blackshirts & Reds, which will probably be the fastest I have got through non-fiction before. Other than that, finished The Fall of Hyperion. That was good, not great. Interesting, but a bit too up itself in places.

I speedran Blackshirts and Reds, so I know what you mean!

Still reading "Imperialism the highest stage of Capitalism", however had to take a break as I couldn't handle the economics talk anymore. I'm about 50% through, but started Blackshirts & Reds because it's a much easier read.

Parenti really has an excellent writing voice!

I'm always reading it in his voice.

Democracy of the Few by Michael Parenti

Still reading Maurice Cornforth's Materialism and the Dialectical Method. The section on dialectics is in similar quality to the section on materialism, and therefore I believe it to be an excellent work. High recommendation.

The first of the accursed kings series, the iron king. Historical fiction about 14th century french feudal-era politics. Pretty entertaining so far.

Oh, I've heard of this one.

By Joe Abercrombie, right? Or is that The First Law trilogy? I think the author you're at least referencing might be French.

[โ€“] muad_dibber@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Ya that's something else, this one's a french author.

[โ€“] Makan@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 3 weeks ago

Yes! That's right! It inspired GRRM himself!
