There are quite a few banks (like Bank Australia) that are refusing to play this game. I suggest taking your business to them over the big four. You shouldn't be using the big four anyway as they absolutely rort you as a customer.

/c/Aussie Environment acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land, sea and waters, of the area that we live and work on across Australia. We acknowledge their continuing connection to their culture and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.
There seems to be a lot of posts in this community focusing on the negative. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I'm not aware of the situation we are in, but can we look also at what we CAN do to make a positive difference? Maybe some of us oldies have a death wish but for the sake of the young and for the sake of the innocent plants and animals let's find ways to go counter to the greed or helpless status quo.
Yeah, great post!
Do what YOU can, and every little bit helps π
If anyone is interested in investing for the betterment of the climate, you can also check out your superannuation fund(s) and where your investments are in those funds.
Some offer specific investments or investment indexes/options that are "climate friendly" or "socially conscious". As another example, Australian Retirement Trust have Australian Shares Index and International Shares Index Hedged whose investment objective is to "Closely match the returns of the performance benchmark .... and maintain a lower weighted carbon intensity.
Whatever that may mean.
Not investment advice.
And our government keeps approving fossil fuel projects. So if the signal given is that fossil fuels are viable of course banks and investors will continue putting money into them. Their objective in life is profit first, whereas you would think that our governments' objectives would be the present and future welfare of the people they represent.
Alright. Let's pitch the nose of our civilization down 90 degrees, kick on the afterburners, and play "rock you like a hurricane" as we hurdle towards our own demise...
