As is often the case, it'll come down to usability and the user-experience vs cost.

This article mostly talks about weight and aerodynamic drag as it affects range. There's a lot of other factors that needs to be addressed (ride, noise, charging time, range, material, the in-cabin software). And not in 2 years, more like 5 years ago.

The Chinese vehicle tsunami can only be held back for so long. Everywhere else in the world, U.S. automakers will have to deal with competition iterating faster and beating them on price.

Did they not just shut down their newest EV factory?

Also, at the pace of current events, you can bet EVs are all going to look exactly the same once drag becomes the overwhelming factor in car design
