Far Cry before it became Generic Ubisoft Open World Game.

Oddly enough, I enjoyed Far Cry 5 even though it followed pretty closely the same formula. Something about the game really stuck out to me, while 4 and 6 were horrible in comparison imo.

For some reason I couldn't finish 6. I've played them all and enjoyed most of them but something about 6 just started feeling a bit repetitive about halfway through, and my interest kind of died out. (which is weird considering the mental trauma of climbing radio towers repeatedly in previous ones.)

I was getting ready to tell you how amazing 3 was (first I played), how I can barely remember 4, thought 5 was pretty good, and something about 6 - then I realized I don't remember 6 at all. Zero idea. Maybe I played it and it ran in with 5?

Most enjoyable part of 6 for me was the hype when it got announced. The popular villain + it being situated in Cuba iirc was what pulled me in... Only disappointment followed

I enjoyed 5 too, but I think they should have focused more on fewer side characters. Faith was my favorite herald, but she felt like the shortest one, and we rarely got to see her.

The first and last Crytek developed Far Cry

I wonder if anyone will make anything out of this.

Would be neat to see an open source engine recreation

I guess the CryEngine has changed a lot since. On the other hand, game studios are notoriously known to keep code which worked once, so ... maybe hacks for Hunt Showdown? idk. Can one take that close of a look at the CryEngine and its internals these days?
