We can follow the news directly from the source using flipboard over the fediverse (mbin.potato-guy.space)

Idk, it might be old news to everyone.

I just discovered that we can follow the magazines the profiles publish, like !brasil-dw_brasil@flipboard.com that turns into a community, or follow them directly like @dw_brasil@flipboard.com, turning all of their posts into a microblog feed (on mbin, mastodon, etc).

Might be interesting to people, if they want to see some different type of posts, news, articles or cultural analysis.

I see this as a win-win, they get their "someone entered your website through flipboard and the fediverse" (the links come with only this tracking) and we get different "content".

Last time when I tried to subscribe to a flipboard magazine from PieFed, I received no post from there. I have just added a ticket

While I knew cross-access was a thing, I didn't know about being able to follow news sources through flipboard

I just searched in there, like the new yorker: https://flipboard.com/@NewYorker and got the handle to follow the profile @NewYorker@flipboard.com, on the magazines I got the handle https://flipboard.com/@newyorker/cartoons-1hgpnrb6z and put the name (without the random alphanumeric) with the account like !cartoons-newyorker@flipboard.com.

Yeah, I checked after the comments here and it's maybe taking some time to send the posts or there is a problem with the threads/sending to the communities. On my instance, the posts are reaching after 15 to 30 minutes. Maybe there needs to be some better integration, maybe talking to the flipboard team or having some different integration, but idk.
