Hoping to finish up Lenins Imperialism this week! I sort of feel like I'm missing some stuff because I haven't gotten to reading Caoital Vol 2 and 3 yet, but hopefully I'll see some connections when I do read them

I started reading Assata Shakur's autobiography. This poem in chapter three really hit me emotionally. https://en.prolewiki.org/wiki/Library:Assata:_An_Autobiography#Chapter_3%3A%7E%3Atext=down+and+wrote-%2Cthis+poem%3A%2C-Rhinocerous+woman

spoilerRhinocerous woman

Who nobody wants

and everybody used.

They say you’re crazy

cause you not crazy enough

to kneel when told to kneel.

Hey, big woman—

with scars on the head

and scars on the heart

that never seem to heal—

I saw your light

And it was shining.

You gave them love.

They gave you shit.

You gave them you.

They gave you hollywood.

They purr at you

cause you know how to roar

and back it up with realness.

Rhinocerous woman.

Big momma in a little world.

You closed your eyes

and neon spun inside your head

cause it was dark outside.

You read your bible

but god never came.

Your daddy woulda loved you

but what would the neighbors say.

They hate you momma

cause you expose their madness.

And their cruelty.

They can see in your eyes

a thousand nightmares

that they have made come true.

Black woman. Bad woman.

Wear your bigness on your chest like a badge

cause you done earned it.

Strong woman. Amazon.

Wear your scars like jewelry

cause they were bought with blood.

They call you mad.

And almost had you

believing that shit.

They called you ugly.

And you hid yourself

behind yourself

and wallowed in their shame.

Rhinocerous Woman—

This world is blind

and slight of mind

and cannot see

How beautiful you are.

I saw your light.

And it was shining.

Fiction: I've read Muda de Chá (released as Tea Seedling in English), a comic book by Larkness. It's a nice little story with an anti-capitalist message. Also odd characters full of personality and life. I'm probably reading The Hobbit next.

Non-Fiction: I'm doing well with the old Cowbee reading list. I'll have to skip Blackshirts and Reds for now, since I bought the physical book but shipping is late.

I recommend replacing Blackshirts and Reds with just the 1986 speech then. I love Blackshirts and Reds but its utility is in convincing liberals that the USSR wasn't an evil hellscape. For those of us here, it's less usable and is more of a pleasure/anger read, it's really cathartic and bitter-sweet.

I've watched the Yellow Lecture already =P

Next are the Ho Chi Minh and Krupskaya short essays about studying. Couldn't get the time to read them yet, despite being so short. Then I'll properly start Section 1.

This week I started reading "the metamorphosis of prime intellect" by Roger Williams, it's a Sci fi Romance about the technological singularity, and that's all I know about it, as I don't like to research too much a book before reading it. It's freely available online on the author's website, if you are interested.

I think it's important to read fiction and things you like that are not directly relate to Marxist theory in times like this, to free your mind a little. You cannot produce good things in a bad state of mind. Take care of yourself guys.
