Grover Furr's books are great. Commonly spread misconceptions and falsehoods countered with historical records and verifiable sources.

Highly recommended.

I'm sorry, but that thumbnail is utterly unhinged. If you think that this is important information that people should pay attention to, that thumbnail is absolutely the worst way to advertise, and is, in fact, a red flag.

Sometimes I wish Lemmy was like Reddit in downranking posts that get heavily downvoted

Since when do Trump supporters like the soviet union and socialism?

If I may ask off topic from what you're replying to, is this book worth reading, out of curiosity?

I believe so, though I haven't yet read it. If nothing else, Furr presents a powerful and evidence-backed counter-narrative to much of Red Scare dogmatism, and in particular I appreciated his work on the Katyn Massacre and the fact that it was likely the Nazis that committed it, not the soviets, based on hard evidence. If you want to learn about Stalin in general, I believe the best work is Domenico Losurdo's Stalin: History and Critique of a Black Legend. I have only skimmed that one for now, though, I am still focusing on studying the core of Marxism over historical implementation of socialism.

I'll bookmark both of those as well, as similarly I prefer investing time learning more about the core of Marxism and furthering my own deprogramming. Thank you.
