On Tuesday famed climate scientist Kate Marvel joined the more than 10,000 people with PhDs in science, engineering and mathematics who, according to Science, are reported to have left the U.S. federal workforce since President Donald Trump took office in January.

“I thought I’d spend my entire career working at this wonderful place,” her letter stated. But she “never expected that science itself would come under attack, simply because it—like journalism, history, and even the best kind of art—is a way of seeking the truth. I’m leaving because I want to tell the truth.”

This is what happens when you elect a leader who gives the Religious Right what they want. When you’ve got a large segment of your population who is culturally delusional and can’t deal with reality, and you give them political power, they destroy your civilization in order to preserve their backwards, primitive way of life. These people are the bane of every society. They prey upon people’s distress and fears, and sell them snake oil and prayers in exchange for tearing down the only real hope you had.

Dr Marvel has quit!?!?

How can Disney release 13 movies, make and cancel 8 TV series this year now?

This was a satirical take on the state of mass-produced corporate television and film that attempt to bleed dry once great franchises in the name of corporate responsibility to shareholders above all else, which sought to link the Marvel franchise (owned by the Disney corporation) with the tenuous but valid link, of the superhero Ms Marvel, and the name of the PhD astronomer in the subject of this article who happens to be Dr Marvel.

It’s never as funny when you have to explain it though.

Nothing new. The US has been losing scientist for decades. There is a reason so little innovation comes out of the States these days.

I am curious what metric you think supports that conclusion?
