Because it shows that the Democrats's commitment to their donors at the expense of their voters is a losing strategy. They would rather continue to lose elections as diet Republicans instead of actually doing what the electorate wants.

Liberalism is a fundamentally oligarchic ideology - which, by default, also makes it fundamentally anti-democratic.

Perhaps it's time we stop lying to ourselves about it.
