I have been looking at NeoDB but I'm not sure all reviews are shown on federated servers... Most of the reviews seem to be on the main instance but when I look at the other instances that federate with it, all the reviews are not showing up

Currently I’d recommend Vernissage over Pixelfed. The former is actively developed while the latter is stagnant.

I’ve been a Pixelfed user for a few years, but I’m in the process of migrating to Vernissage after seeing how responsive and attractive it is as a platform.

NeoDB has fairly comprehensive data import from numerous sites that catalogue media so I don't think I've run into not finding something even once there. Haven't used it much for music though.

I also use Pixelfed and it's generally good apart from occasional bugs. There's also Vernissage (vernissage.photos as flagship instance).

Not your question, but just want to talk about the Mastodon bit.

I've always been interested in microblogging platforms since Twitter originally released, but I've never been able to really engage with them. Over the years I tried Twitter numerous times, later X, tried Bluesky a couple of times, and also tried Mastodon and failed to stick with it.

However lately I've switched to Sharkey (using Aria on Android), which is a fork of Misskey. Sharkey federates with Mastodon, Misskey, and a couple of others that I'm mind blanking on right now.

It's only been coming up to a month since I switched, and I'm absolutely loving it! Plenty of engagement, the Antennas keywords and phrases thing is awesome, and it's just really nice to be on a platform like that without a damn algorithm dictating what I consume

i use (and enjoy) NeoDB and there is absolutely a delete account option in the settings
