Clearly this guy doesn’t read the New Testament, because Talarico often quotes Jesus directly, the books of Matthew, Luke, and others all align with Talarico’s presentation. Hell, Acts 2 has the disciples & their community selling all their goods to use them collectively.
The right has co-opted religion to their own detriment. If democrats & other liberals start citing the verses, then these people wouldn’t have legs to stand on. If you’re a Christian, why prioritize Leviticus, Deuteronomy, and so on, compared to the New Testament or what Jesus said himself?
He’s right that these people have worshipped power to the point of blasphemy. Even Jesus says not all believers will be accepted if they venerate him and act maliciously. Luke speaks of belief as being insufficient to reach heaven, because it must be coupled with good works, which are laid out in multiple places.
The entire republican platform is rebuked by Matthew 25:31, but what can you expect from a bunch of people who likely haven’t read the Bible in years but speak of it like they know it?
I started memorizing verses because I have an X marker on my license for NB. If I ever get sent away to a camp or disappeared, I want to quote this stuff at the guards. I doubt it’ll make a difference, but maybe it can change someone’s mind if I’m in that situation.
I’m sure Dan Patrick knows about Jesus’ message of compassion. Patrick is an evil man though, supporting an evil party. Lying, cheating, and stealing are their core moral attributes.
This doesn't matter for most "christians"..... They abandoned core tenets of the dogma years ago. Now they just want to be "right"
An elected official telling someone to “go to hell” needs to be classified as a death threat.
Surprised it isn't already in Texas legal codes, since plenty of far less offensive words and phrases are banned in their state house.
More SkyDaddy bullshit.
