it also incentivises needlessly putting more game logic and data server side, e.g. Gran Turismo 7 saves everything on cloud servers, and when their servers aren't reachable you can't use most of the cars in the game or any modified cars in single player (basically a slightly worse experience than playing Gran Turismo 4 without a memory card).
