I'm indigenous Canadian and I speak my traditional language of Ojibwe Cree.

The word moose is a native word. In my language the plural for two or more of this animal is ...

Moo-suk

I like mentioning this whenever I hear people debating in English about what the plural of moose is. It drives them nuts because no one accepts this answer because no one speaks Ojibwe Cree.

Well, it's now my go to answer whenever I hear it. I mean if it's your word I feel like your plural of your word is the right one.

To expand on that .... the same thing didn't pan out for the word 'goose' ... the english plural being 'geese' ... because 'goose' is an old indo-european word that has thousands of years of history

We call a Canada Goose ... niska

and the plural to niska is ... niskuk

btw ... I really love this community, it's completely stupid, off the wall and a breath of fresh air in a wilderness of chaos and hatred ... I grew up in a traditional Native family and my dad was a hunter and trapper who spoke only Ojibwe-Cree ... he saw how interested and excited I was to watch Star Trek TNG in the 90s and said he was amazed that people were able to travel through space like that .. I had to tell him that it was all a made up show and it wasn't real. It may have burst my bubble but it also made me realize just how great the show and acting was.

Star Trek really does bring everyone together! It's a fantastic series and I wish more people were into it. My parents sort of programmed a lot of really bigoted, racist, sexist, horrible things into my brain as a child. It genuinely was Star Trek that made me realize that my parents were wrong and kinda horrible people. I do not know what kind of person I would be without Star Trek but.... Well actually I'ma quote Riker on this.

"Different? Certainly. But certainly not better."

lol ... I get so used to seeing you around and associating you to Star Trek memes ... I thought we were in Risa community before I realized we were in the Lemmy Shitpost

"Live, Long and Prosper ... you filthy animal" ... probably by some half breed Vulcan / Human from the early 22nd century.

I was going to mention but I wasn't sure if it was in reaction to my username or what. Yeah I post... a lot. Sorry about that lol

Also I approve. If I had someway to twist "peace and long life" into a Home Alone reference I 100% would. Alas my brain today has decided to have a case of the dumb.

The moose looks like it's wearing high heels.
