Does anyone have any tips on how to have a good experience with IPTV? So far I've tried 2 (well, maybe it's just 1) IPTV providers and the experience just kinda sucks. Most of the time I can't get channels to load and when I do, it usually takes like 30s-40s to load the channel. I definitely can't reasonably browse channels.

Once a channel loads, it's usually fine.

I'm using dispatcharr + Jellyfin.

My server is plugged in via ethernet, but it does stream over wifi to my TV.

Are there any settings I could change to speed things up? Or is there some way I could auto-remove channels that don't load? Do I need faster internet speeds? Are the only reliable channels US channels? (I'm trying to watch non-US channels.)

Try set up the stream directly on an IPTV app on your TV, instead of using Dispatcharr. If you have a device with Android TV (either built-in to the TV or a steaming box like the Nvidia Shield or Onn one), try Tivimate.

The IPTV apps on non-Android platforms aren't as good. On your computer, you can try tuning in to a channel using VLC or a web UI (if your provider has one) and see if it works better.

The best IPTV providers are hidden from the public (no public website or social media presence), and you need to be invited by an existing user. Unfortunately the one I use closed signups a few years ago, otherwise I'd invite you.

But then you can't easily load the EPG XML as with dispatcharr + Jellyfin

The IPTV provider should provide the EPG, either as a URL or via "Xtreme Codes" (which is essentially just a base URL for an API that provides both the playlist and the EPG).

Yeaahh...About that with less than legal streams lol.

Most japanese EPGs are, well, japanese.
So I put a translation script inbetween that translates every programm title and description daily....Works as well as you can expect from a free google translate call.

I don't use providers. I have my own playlist of sketchy channels. It's not very fancy, but I can usually pirate whatever sports, movies, tv, etc.

Or is there some way I could auto-remove channels that don’t load?

If you search "m3u cleaner", there are a few options. I tried some but they seemed slow and unreliable. I manually maintain my playlist.

As far as software goes, I use Kodi btw.

Dispatcharr and jellyfin is a bit flaky to load.
Probably a mix of the stream source (encoding), ffmpeg (dispatcharr) settings,, Jellyfin HWA configurations, jellyfin client and jellyfin capabilities

Mine loads usually, buuuut it takes a few seconds.

Jellyfin server: Current release by linuxserver.io
Jellyfin client: Android App (phone), Android TV app
Streaming source: Some m3u for japanese IPTV
Jellyfin GPU for HWA: i5-1135G7

Load time until a picture is shown: About 5-15 seconds.

Edit: If you'd like (DM me), I can send you a bit about my dispatcharr/Jellyfin config.

Do you use a streaming box? Like Apple TV or shield?

Yeah, I use the Jellyfin client on a Nvidia Shield.

On the Dispatcharr Discord, you can find a tool there that has helped me a lot: Smart Hardware-Accelerated Stream Re-Encoder - https://discord.com/channels/1340492560220684331/1460027497377698076

Yeah, I'm running dispatcharr through gluetun.

I've heard mixed things about this. On the one hand, I've read the VPN might slow you down. On the other hand, I've heard NOT having a VPN might cause your ISP to slow you down.
