Companies are competing with ingenuity to transform Mars into a habitable planet. Each spends numerous resources and uses innovative technologies to raise the temperature, create a breathable atmosphere, and make the oceans liquid. As terraforming progresses, more and more people will come to settle on the Red Planet from Earth.

In Terraforming Mars, you lead a corporation with unique characteristics. Play Project cards, enhance production, place your cities and green spaces on the map, and compete for rewards and objectives.

  • Reach a high level of Terraforming by increasing the temperature, raising the oxygen level, or creating oceans. Make the planet habitable for future generations!
  • Earn Victory Points by building cities, infrastructures, and other increasingly ambitious projects.
  • Beware: rival corporations will try to slow your progress. That's a beautiful forest you've planted there... It would be a real shame if an asteroid were to suddenly crash into it, don't you think?

I can't speak for this adaptation to a digital format, but this is a great board game

It is a good adaptation, but a bit buggy. IIRC, it works better on Linux via Wine/Proton, which is ironic.

Depends how you read it - is it better on Linux than Windows (a benefit), or is the Windows binary better on Linux than the Linux one (the linked complaint)

Especially if you have friends who own a 3D printer and they print dedicated miniature models for all the different tile types and different markers for each type of resource in different colours (e.g. tiny cells, birds, cows, etc. in bronze/silver/gold):

Ooo nice, though you'll need to 3D print a bigger box too

Oooh, those look great. The "stock" resource cubes (and the player boards) are extremely cheap garbage.

Yea, this is a great upgrade. The player boars are not self-made, I think you can buy those from the publisher for 5€ or so. Most of the 3D models are available online for free, but my friend made slight adjustments and printed them in different colours. There are also hexagonal storage boxes where everything slots in nearly.

I wish more real companies dropped asteroids on their rivals
