I had a 1990 Volvo wagon, would not consider another one a downgrade by any means.

Downgrade what things? I dont own a car. I rent the cheapest apartment i could get into in this area. My phone cost $200 brand new. Downgrade my collection of like 10 plushies on my bed?

This is advice for rich people, not lowly poors.

Single ply toilet paper I guess?

This isn't new, it's been on trend for years for wealthy folks to own less stuff, and spend all their income on intangibles like travel, food, and services. And lecture everyone else on how this is how you have to live your life and if you don't you need mental help.

And they are still miserable and unhappy.

I see Volvo wagon, I upvote.

Hell I love most any wagon but Volvo wagons are just great. I really wish they (or anyone besides Porsche, and even then Porsche recently stopped) made fully battery electric wagons for the US market
