A Justice Ministry department announced on Wednesday that it questioned an Israel Police officer on suspicion of obstructing an ongoing murder investigation.
According to the Justice Ministry's department for investigating police misconduct, the officer is suspected of meeting with her sister, the main suspect in the investigation, shortly after the suspected murder of the sister's former boyfriend, 19-year-old Bnaya Razi.
Investigators suspect that after the sister and another suspect informed the officer of the homicide, the policewoman did not inform her commanders and took actions to obstruct the investigation before the murder suspects were arrested.
The officer, who serves in the Traffic Division, is suspected of obstruction of justice and breach of trust. After being questioned on Wednesday, the officer was released under restrictive conditions, including three days of house arrest and a ban on contacting anyone involved in the case for eight days.
The officer's attorney said she denied the allegations against her. According to him, she informed her commanders on Sunday morning about her connection to the murder suspect.
Razi, a resident of the Givat Ze'ev settlement near Jerusalem, was stabbed to death on Saturday in an apartment in the city's Nahlaot neighborhood.
Medics evacuated Razi to the city's Shaare Zedek Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. Police have arrested at least six suspects in connection with the murder.
