Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. 😇 Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. 📽️ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. 📋 Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      ✅ Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. 📬 Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 🖐) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 🖐) will be removed.
  7. 🏴‍☠️ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      Sí, por favor [Spanish/Español]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists

The following artists are banned from the community.

  1. Jago
  2. Stonetoss
  3. GPrime85

It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.

Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

Fire

A comic in four panel:

Panel 1. Pepper and Carrot, a young witch with her cat, is buying vegetable at the market, with her broom on her back. The city is half in flames, yet it’s still market day and people are everywhere. The seller, an halfing goat, responds to her.

Pepper: “”But... isn’t there a−”
Seller: “−a fire? What fire? It’s just a little hot today.”

Panel 2. A posh lady walks past. An halfing dog-man brags.

Lady: “Someone is complaining? I’m perfectly fine. Just install a well in your home like we did.”
Dog-Man: “There is no fire, kid! It’s pure Elves’ propaganda!”

Panel 3. Pepper points at the fire in the background, to the suprise of the lady and man.

Pepper: “But... Don’t you see it?”

Panel 4. The posh lady, seller, and dog-man all scream at Pepper. She flies away on her broom without looking back, circling her finger near her head (a gesture for “crazy”). They’re now completely engulfed in flames.

All: “Everything is FINE, OK?!!!”

I think it's mainly Americans who don't believe in climate change. I don't live in the US but I am yet to meet a non-American who does not believe it's real. Although, unfortunately, said people may think climate change is real but it is at the bottom of their priority. The far right idiotically and pathetically fail to link climate change with migration. The former think migrants simply want to cause havoc. Most people don't leave their places unless it's economic, which climate change is wreaking havoc upon because the vulnerable and poor global south don't have the means to cope with warming weather that causes drought. Meanwhile, the billionaires are laughing all the way to the bank and stringing us along like puppets. And we are all too happy to be played upon.

The conservatives have swapped from "Climate change isnt real" to "Climate change is real, but not man made so we dont have to do anything"

So, we're all aware, the party line is just whether you want cheap clean energy or if you really want to line Saudi Arabias pockets

Oh, i know a few here in Germany, specifically rural Lower Bavaria. But i'm not surprised by that, since these idiots are also voting for AfD, and love to eat up Russian propaganda.

Merz (German Chancellor) doesn't. He literally shrugged and said "I can't change the weather." He also wants to get rid of renewables and public transport asap.

Not trying to blame any group specific but it's mainly people that believe Facebook science. That and they're usually 55-70 yrs.

It really very often is a self defense mindset because that generation knew, but never acted on it because they were living in a golden age.

It isn't helpful to blame a group anymore. Action needs to come from everyone together. We're in this together. It's just really hard to make a living and worry about the huge fireball that were living in, and I think that's by design.

If I had time and funds to make a real change, I would. But now I'm really just trying to be alive.

It is but it makes me sad that artists have to do that now or else get immediately accused of AI.

Not mad at the artists or at the people who can't tell what's AI or not. Just, fuck AI lol.

Your comment made me realize something. As timelapses as “proof of art” get more and more common those timelapses will just be used as training material for future video models.

In a few years I suspect people will be able to ask a video models for a Timelapse for any given piece of “art”.

Well there's a dark and depressing thought.

[–] Killer@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

People are already making "fake" timelapses where they're just tracing over ai images

If I could grab a broom and fly away, I would

[–] GhostFace@lemmy.today 1 points 8 hours ago

Or just hover nearby and watch them get burned alive. It's what they deserve.

Is this Europe in the summer?

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 6 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

Nah, we know that lakes still froze in winter in our childhood and that each year gets a few >30°C days more. It's not fine.
