We were getting spammed with communities. Hundreds with gibberish names. Community creation will be back.
No idea how to DM, but you could DM @TheDude and ask for a favor.
An admin might be able to hook you up if you ask nicely. I think they are trying to figure out how to moderate community creation on instances that have pretty open sign ups
