Swear to God, it's just sheer fucking stubbornness that's keeping the embargo up at this point. It failed, we need to get over it, there's no sense in reducing both countries' prosperity for a matter of pride.

The Cuban oligarchy that ran the whole island on slave labor hasn't gotten their land back yet. Their children have a birthright to recover and their control over Florida still drives the USA's relationship with Cuba.

While I personally think the embargo is stupid and should've ended decades ago the idea that the UN could vote against an embargo and expect anything to happen is funny to me.
