Does the name need to be like the URL, or just what you wanna call the community? There's a little help icon next to the text box, but tapping it doesn't seem to make any help text show up.

Thanks for the help!

Name will essentially be the text after the c/ in the URL
Display Name allows extra text and will show when people browse using the Communities tab. Text in the Display Name is also searchable

example: I made a community called 'retronet'
that is the Name, which corresponds to this url: https://lemmy.sdf.org/c/retronet

the Display Name is 'retroNET - Vintage Culture/Websites/Software', which is what people see in the Community browser

Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using an URL instead of its name, which doesn't work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !retronet@lemmy.sdf.org

The name is the name of the community. The actual name that’s all lowercase is the name it will show on the URL. You can name the community anything but the url cannot have weird things in it
