At the moment, it's not possible.
Mastodon added the ability to export and import accounts, so some day Lemmy might work in a similar way.

@Boingbong
Mastodon can do that. Lemmy not at the moment. But it’s a very needed features.
And hopefully not just users, but the transfer of an entire community should theoretically be possible. Like mods of !A@lemmy.A decided to migrate the community to !A@lemmy.B and all subscribers to the community are transferred. It is possible in principle
You can do it manually, but if you're operating from your lemmy.world account Beehaw communities won't update for you. You can only view what was posted before the defederation, if I'm understanding things correctly.
You can view and even interact beehaw content. Your interactions on beehaw communities will only be visible to users of your instance tho
This seems like a loophole. So, you go to one of those communities and post ilegal stuff and that's visible for everyone in your communities but the mods don't see it so can't moderate it?
Interesting, I'll try playing around with it more. I was on quite a few Beehaw communities, and could only see posts from before defederation while logged in. When viewing those same communities signed out, more recent posts and comments were visible.
Yes I've been still viewing beehaw communities but haven't tried commenting. I figured if there was a post I wanted to interact with I could use my beehaw account
