Fuck 'em

I know this community is small (there is a much bigger /c/diablo where they post also diablo 4 stuff), but I honestly don't want to go back to Reddit for anything, even if that means losing access to stuff.

I bought a Tesla because I wanted an electric car with certain features and all the other brands, sold thru dealerships, insisted in charging a 'low stock' fee of $6-$10k that I wasn't willing to pay, even though I prefer some of the other options.

If that makes me a tool.. well, ok I guess. I'll be in the shed if you need me

Vets and anesthesia (lemmy.fmhy.ml)
submitted 1 year ago by inventa@lemmy.fmhy.ml to c/dogs@lemmy.world

Does anyone have the feeling that veterinaries are too quick to administer anesthesia foe things as simple as an xray? Couple years ago, most clinics ago wanted to put my dogs under just to chip them.

I'm always concerned about the risks of anesthesia. I'm originally from Dpain, and there the technician (or the owner) will go inside with the dog wearing a lead vest to hold them while the image is taken.

Am I overreacting? Is there something I'm missing ?

There will be a part of the stream dedicated to the diablo that must not be mentioned. But there should be announcement of date, theme and other details for diablo 4 season 1

Moderated communities (lemmy.fmhy.ml)

I don't seem to be able to show them in my subscribed list. Ideally, I'd have a category for them, but at least they should show with the rest of them

I hope this is the right place to discuss a potential feature for lemmy.

I've been reading a lot of the defederation calls from instances and their users. More often than not, this was due to very specific elements of those instances; trolls, extremists, etc... But in my opinion, defederating a whole instance because of that is a sad pity.

I was thinking a way to solve this would be to have a federated blacklist. Instance Admins would ban user accounts from their instance and that would be added to a list that could be consulted/automatically used by other instance owners. They would ideally be able to set parameters, like banning users from a list accepted by a number of other instances, a specific reason for the ban, or banned by specific instances.

This would lessen the administrative load, protect instances, allow different instances with shared concerns to help each other while allowing their own users to interact with the 'compatible' users and communities from other instances.

Just an idea and wanted to bring it up and hear some thoughts.

Thank you guys. Happier every day to having chosen this instance

The continuous refresh makes the site mostly unusable for me in browser. I'd prefer updating to fix one of the biggest bugs the site has

I love sync, so I hope he gets to it!

Does anyone know if there is a way I don't have to push shift to compare objects every time I open the game?

2

Business as usual, keep them well moderated and on topic... buuuuut, add a rule that all content shared must contain a link to your fediverse community

Thanks for this. It's recomforting and makes me thing I chose the right instance to sign up

[-] inventa@lemmy.fmhy.ml 15 points 1 year ago

It's a known bug, and it's being worked on

[-] inventa@lemmy.fmhy.ml 12 points 1 year ago

I wouldn't call it worse. From what I learned, their goals of being a super-curated-exclusive community don't agree with mine, so I'm happy I signed up for a more open instance

[-] inventa@lemmy.fmhy.ml 17 points 1 year ago

But that is an issue too. Why would other instances allow them full access while being prevented from collaborating in theirs ?

[-] inventa@lemmy.fmhy.ml 42 points 1 year ago

As I was posting in the other thread, they are blocking almost 300 communities and the reason for these last two is that having four mods they can't keep up with the huge influx of users. What is worse, they call it temporary until there are better moderation tools, but reading further what they hope for is the ability to block external users while allowing theirs to browse other communities

Reading through the comments in their post I'm losing the little sympathy I was feeling. It looks like the moderation tool they are hoping for is one that allows their users to access other communities while preventing the other communities from accessing beehaw. That feels shortsighted and selfish, and I would think most communities on that end on the block would block them reciprocally.

[-] inventa@lemmy.fmhy.ml 36 points 1 year ago

I think it's also important to note, beehaw has the largest amount of blocked communities

Yeah. In the explanation they say that four people are taking the load of moderation, that can't scale. If the rest of the communities keep growing they may end up isolating themselves for not being able to adapt.
