I guess, but talking shit to your siblings is just kinda what happens. Siblings have less of a filter with each other than any two people on the planet. That doesn't mean they wouldn't die for each other if it came down to it though.

Yeah, I've seen it said that sibling is like a built-in best friend. And the very best friends will curse you to the depths of hell with a straight face and hear you do the same, and still remain your best friend

My older brother has me blocked, younger brother rarely texts me. It is like I am an only child. I am the only one who goes to my parents for holidays. I would never die for my brothers.

Some families grow up less afraid of words than others.

[-] MeowZedong@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 9 months ago

Some grow up without fearing words, but understanding the implications of the language they use and the effects it can have on others.

But no, it's definitely that people are "afraid" of the words, not that they try to be cognizant of their words and actions.

You way overthought that one bro.

[-] MeowZedong@lemmygrad.ml -2 points 9 months ago

Definitely not. Knee-jerk response. Do you not think about the impact of what you say to others?

[-] money_loo@1337lemmy.com 2 points 9 months ago

How many siblings do you have or did you grow up with?

[-] MeowZedong@lemmygrad.ml -1 points 9 months ago

Doesn't matter how many siblings I've had, how many kids I've raised, or how long I've worked in environments where people talk rough.

Don't be a debate pervert. Go learn about mutual respect.

I mean my older brother once used me as a human dartboard and left me with tiny holes in my stomach…another time he put bottle rockets in my shoes and tried to launch me away because he didn’t want me anymore.

I was like 3.

We’re adults now and I still love that asshole, so I’m just saying…siblings are a whole nother level. lol

"I am too abused to recognize abuse lol" ok bud maybe you need to reflect about your childhood with a therapist.

[-] money_loo@1337lemmy.com 1 points 9 months ago

And you think that proves that some families aren’t less afraid of simple words, how exactly?

All you’ve done is demonstrate when your siblings try to kill you, being called a pussy isn’t a big deal at all, lmao

[-] SheDiceToday@eslemmy.es 1 points 9 months ago

You were three, how old was he? Because bottle rockets to launch you away sounds like cartoon logic.

The dartboard thing is just bonkers.

I’m a middle child and we’re two years apart, he was 5 and I was still in a high chair.

We didn’t enjoy much parental supervision growing up below the poverty line in the us south, especially around 12 when our parents got divorced.

But we’ve always at least had each other despite the occasional chaos leaking into our actions.

It's not toxic to call out bad behaviour.

[-] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 4 points 9 months ago

Lmao of course this is the top reply

[-] Maggoty@lemmy.world 15 points 9 months ago

Nah, Dad is laughing at you. Not with you. He knows exactly what's coming next.
