if i recall corectly fidel castro told lula to not give up on politics after losing an election it was something like "you do not have the right to abandon politics, you don't have the right to do that to the working class" absolute mvp of latam
If I remember correctly Lula had lost an election for governor, in Cuba, Fidel asked how many votes he had won. When Lula said 1 million, Fidel responded with "Lula, never in the history of Brazil has a working class man received so many votes. You can't give up, these people need you."
Castro should’ve made more political ads telling Americans to :vote:
maybe the left leaders in South America have gotten less based because now they don't have to worry about disappointing Fidel anymore
Has more to do with playing it smart and not getting assassinated. Anyone too far left often gets offed before they can take power. Once they do, it’s hard for the CIA to overthrow them (see Venezuela)
