Moin!

In der Klickbox meiner SRAM S7 ist Feuchtigkeit. Das Lastenrad steht draußen und ich hab keine Möglichkeit es irgendwo geschützt unterzustellen.
Ich weiß jetzt schon das mir das Ding einfrieren wird, letzte Nacht hatten wir das erste Mal Frost.

Nun die Frage: was tun? Kann man die Box irgendwie Trockenlegen? Wobei das Wasser ja wohl zurück kommen wird, es ist hier auch ständig nass im Winter.

Über Tipps von euch freue ich mich!

Unfortunately, the S7 is, well, a shitshow. Feel free to look at reviews of it online if you need some incentive in order to replace it.

As for a more immediate solution, the problem I see is your inability to store the bike in a shed, at least temporarily. You should be able to get the humidity out by letting the clickbox sit wrapped in e. g. a plastic ziplock bag filled with a drying agent such as crumbled calcium chloride (available in any home improvement store), but that will only help so much if the humidity of the surrounding air is really high / if it's constantly raining on the bag.

That being said, once dry, you might want to take off the lid and seal the seams using some automotive gasket sealant, e. g. Permatex. Those hold up well to the weather, are oil resistant etc. and will keep the moisture out.

Thank you for the suggestion! A gasket sealent is an excellent idea, I might just do that in a free moment.

As for the S7, I hate it. I've had it completely disassembled three times already, I'm on the second click box and it's generally a pain to use as well. No comparison to even a cheap nexus inter 7.

My biggest problem with it though is that it seems to refuse to just die completely, and thus so far I couldn't justify a replacement. That plus the hassle of changing a planetary gear in general, if you don't want an entire wheel + gearbox assembly.

It's a true blessing from the gods that they don't produce it anymore.

Wenn das Ding halbwegs trocken ist, bei jedem Abstellen eine Plastiktüte drüberstülpen.

Ich würde den Deckel abnehmen, trocknen, mit Balistol reinigen und final mit einem schweren Getriebefett innen zukleistern. Nur dünnflüssiges Kriechöl hält zwei Wochen und dann geht es von vorn los.

Ich weiß nicht, ob es der Kunststoff lange mitmacht, aber ich würde die Box mit WD40 fluten. Das verdrängt Wasser.

This is a good suggestion, but the S7 clickbox comes lubed, and flooding it with WD40 (which, despite being used as such far too many times) is itself not a (lasting) lubricant - it will most likely thin or even wash out the grease used in the clickbox, increasing wear and reducing the lifetime of the internal mechanism.

If OP is fine with disassembling the clickbox, spraying it with WD40 to displace the water would be an excellent first step in a repair though. I'd then clean and re-lube the mechanism before reassembling and sealing it.

However, I assume OP is asking to keep the clickbox untouched, as it can be somewhat of a nuisance to reassemble.

Das entfettet vor allem auch. Sollte da drin also irgendwas geschmiert sein, ist es das danach nicht mehr.

Bitte nicht! WD-40 wäscht erst das Fett aus und fängt dann zwei Wochen später an zu verharzen.
