The first-term lawmaker initially was celebrated as an up-and-comer after he flipped a district from Democrats last year and helped Republicans win control of the House. But soon after, troubles began. Reports began to emerge that Santos had lied about having Jewish ancestry, a career at top Wall Street firms and a college degree. His presence in the House quickly became a distraction and an embarrassment to the party.

They’re not embarrassed. Embarrassment requires an ability to feel shame. Either the AP is intentionally propping up the GQP (likely) or the author is over 87 years old and is thinking of some long-lost political environment.

I'm always amazed that someone can still "get away" with falsifying all of their credentials did nobody in his district look this guy up?

I wouldn't even feel comfortable lying on an application for some inconsequential job. I guess that's why shitbags get ahead... better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

For some reason, Republicans did vote to expel him. I'm surprised.

Less than half of the Republicans voted to expel him. About 114 Republicans voted no. All but 4 Democrats voted to expel him (2 voted present, 2 voted against).

The majority of Republicans did not vote to expel him.

Okay, that's less surprising. But still, enough did.

Santos could get ChatGPT to write his autobiographical and it would be more truthful.

How do these worthless cunts manage the cognitive dissonance caused by the juxtaposition of this assclown with trump, the most damaging traitor in American history?

Trump demonstrated beyond a doubt that Republican voters can be fooled by complete lies and incredibly stupid bullshit. I mean, it had already been going on for years, just look at the millions of idiots who really believe that televangelist will be called home by jesus if you don't give him money, and the utter slimeballs on Fox, but Trump really raised (lowered) the bar.
