I've noticed that my "points" that show up in the voyager and connect apps have reset both times I've deleted a comment I made. I don't care much, but I assume it's not the expected outcome.

i assume it is expected outcome because there is no "karma". we don't want karma whores to repost someone else's posts from last month leaderboard to farm points.

the points relate to the specific post or comment. no comment = no points.

Lemmy itself doesn’t show karma, but many of the apps do. It doesn’t make sense that deleting a single comment among dozens/hundreds would reduce your count down to 0.

It would be nice if the apps offered a feature to just turn off karma, I don’t like how karma makes me feel. I want out of the rat race lol

oh, it doesn't, but that seems like a bug of that specific app, since it is the app that does the total count.

that being said, there were some strange over/underflow bugs, like the one where deleting the only comment from the post resulted in -13 comments and such. so who knows 🤷‍♂️

No, it wiped out points from all comments on my account, not just that comment.

when i check your profile you have plenty of points there. i think it is a bug of the app you are using

well i am not going to count that, but it could be. just check yourself in the browser.

You should consider cross posting this to the respective app communities. I’m not sure if it is an instance issue or an app issue, but I suspect app.

It's reset across the apps (the ones that count points, at least)
