The title is a little bit deceptive, I suppose they went for some sensationalism. Some of the Sahara is in Morocco. According to the article, they actually travelled 1000km in an undisclosed amount of time. This is still a nice proof of concept especially since it was revealed in September this year. It also states that the range should be around 700km on a sunny day. I also suspect this is why they went to this location for this test with the almost year long sunny weather and low chance of rain. Next they should go to the arctic, see how it does in lots of sun but relentlessly cold temperatures. Interesting tech nonetheless.
