I care.

But I can do fuck all to fix it. SQL is one of the most atrocious examples of standards extortion I'm aware of. I consider myself to be a SQL expert but I've never read a single page of the standard and I have absolutely no idea who is privy to the decision making process around it.

The SQL standard is also extremely irrelevant and delayed both because of their insane access fees and because they adapt to new demands (JSON? Who's that?) at a plodding pace.

I honestly think at some point we should just form a working group out of the smart people in postgres, oracle and mysql to completely subvert the current ANSI board.... it'd probably take ANSI a good decade or two to realize we abandoned them.
