Sounds like they’re not bricked, just banned. Then again, if you can’t pass an online key check…

Really, because I have a Bosch and I had to install the app and then use HACS to install an integration which goes through their cloud.

I don’t use that for anything more than alerts but it’s annoying it has zero local control. This is a perfect use case for Zigbee or Z-Wave and if I’m paying a premium I don’t get why I wouldn’t get premium features.

Also some features are app only (special dry modes etc) so if I want the functionality I paid for I have to be signed up for their cloud.

Newer Bosch lock SOME features behind their app. There are literally no buttons for it, you HAVE to have a smartphone and internet and you HAVE to use their app to use the features.

EDIT: clarified that it’s only some features

McDonald’s also had a ”Third Pounder” and it had the same issue

I saw that, it’s supposedly $1300/month and makes 100 pizzas per hour

Think of how many minimum wage jobs we’ll be able to eliminate before rugpulling and increasing subscription costs to $13k/month

Dont do that Reddit-ass shit where you find something she did that crosses your principles and immediately ascribe that as the obvious motive.

This has never happened to me on a systemd server before. Methinks you left out some details

While I agree that the author’s invoking of this particular incident in which TeleMessage created an insecure side channel for message transmission and storage which undermined Signal’s E2EE security doesn’t really provide proof to their claim, they’re not wrong about a master-key encryption system being an absolutely horrific idea.

Ah, so this is satire. I must admit it flew right over my head but it makes sense to me now.
