Better in every metric? Try being Chinese and criticizing the government online, and see what happens to you. That’s a pretty scary metric. The US is fucked right now, but at least there is hope in a democracy, while it lasts. If we ever become a full on totalitarian dystopia like China, it’s over. It makes me sad to think that, with modern surveillance technology, there is probably no way for them to dig themselves out of it at this point.

Basically, there was a discussion about how instances have rules and Feddit also needs to abide by local (Austrian) law to not get in legal trouble. And I get called a Zionazi for saying that you cant just up and call for the massacre of civilians, regardless of which side you are on. It’s also ironic for Dessalines to mock me for sticking to rules and laws to protect our instance.

I also got recently permabanned (reason: Golden Rule #8) from Ye Power Trippin Bastards after I posted Dessalines banning me on .ml despite not having posted anything there in three weeks.

Elon Musk calls Pedro Sánchez 'tyrant' over plans to ban minors from using social media

Tech billionaire and X owner Elon Musk called Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez a "tyrant and traitor to the people of Spain" in response to Madrid's plans to roll out new measures aimed at regulating digital platforms and protecting minors.

On Tuesday, Sánchez announced a new legislative proposal aimed at holding social media executives accountable for failing to properly police their platforms.

The proposals looks to ban under-16s from accessing social media, as Madrid expressed concern with the rise of hateful and incendiary speech on digital platforms.

Sánchez said social media platforms will have to implement age verification tools that actually work, not easily bypassable checkboxes, if they wish to operate in Spain.

Musk, a self-described supporter of radical free speech, labelled the Spanish leader "Dirty Sánchez," an offensive term referencing a sexual act.

The measures announced by the Spanish executive aim to combat what Madrid considers the “Wild West” of social networks, where laws are often ignored and hate speech is tolerated.

One of the measures announced by the Spanish premier looks to make social media platform executives and owners liable in court if they fail to remove hateful or illegal content — a move which would directly affect the likes of Musk.

His criticism of Sánchez comes as the European Union explores new tools to hold US Big Tech accountable for breaching digital rules.

Actual communists here are on Threadiverse seem quite emotionally capable and are among the more pleasant to chat with. Examples there include slrpnk.net. I used to also say db0 though there always seems pushback nowadays whenever I include it, but I can’t get anyone to give me a solid answer as to why besides unsubstantiated accusations that even on their face looks like pure BS to me. So I guess I’ll keep saying it, just noting that it is a controversial point.:-)

Hexbears on the other hand are trolls, pure and simple, with zero regard for anything other than “the dunk” process of pwning someone - or rather, appearing to, from their own extremely childish POV.

Lemmy.ml and lemmygrad.ml then are the leftist MAGAs, believing in alternative facts rather than living in reality. e.g. most claim that they would move to the likes of North Korea in a heartbeat, except, you know… I guess they took an arrow to the knee or some such. 🤪

I am so glad that I can block people from an entire instance. If I could, I would make an exception to the devs Nutomic and Dessalines out of respect for having offered the Lemmy sourcecode as FOSS, but other than that, I have not missed a single interaction with anyone on Lemmy.ml since I have done so, every time I’ve checked to see what I might be missing. They are the most batshit insane comments across the entirety of the Threadiverse, after Hexbear obviously.
