I just really don't want my kids around any dogs, which is why I disagree with just letting any of them roam. A dog snapped at my kid's face and now we're both afraid. Dogs just aren't people. They get upset and bite. I don't mind people having them, but yeah.

Seriously. This will be a controversial issue to a handful of freaks online that will mention it in the same breath as litter boxes in school restrooms. I put this under: guaranteed I will never see this discussed offline category.

If I'm not mistaken, this is referring to a bill that requires tampons to be stocked at Minnesota public schools free of charge, which is nice,. My wife is a teacher and we buy certain things to keep stocked in her classroom: tampons, deodorant, blah blah.

The kids really use em too. I don't care to buy it, but I'm sure it's much nicer to just have it done through the school.

Pirating WWF (hexbear.net)

Hey, I'm trying to pirate some old WWF royal rumbles, but struggling to find them. My kid has been obsessed with this book I have about older wrestling stuff, and I'm looking for 80's-90's rumbles, I found some 2000's ones. Any help is appreciated.

Violating zoning laws, is the charge I guess? What a cruel thing. The churches around me (tiny, tiny town, no shelters) operate as unofficial overnight warming and cooling places, as they call it. There is nowhere else for miles and miles.

I don't think it's beating a dead horse, tiny tank. I was just talking to someone I know about this who was on my ass when I said the whole uyghur genocide narrative was fabrication.

It's pretty obvious that had China been genociding Muslims, the US state department would have been supportive of it. I don't see how weird libs whose political identity is wanting to smugly be correct and good don't see how their opinions are always directly in line with the US state.

I do hope it's a radicalizing moment for people, and maybe it is. I don't have a good enough handle on popular sentiment for that.

I've heard talk about this for a long time, generally called the Samson option, obviously after the biblical figure. Thing is, it just sounds like a "normal" nuclear deterrence strategy of mutually assured destruction, but I know very, very little about it.

Seymour Hersh has a book about Israel's nuclear history (called Samson option). I've never personally read it, but Hersh is a respected journalist and I'm sure there's some useful information in it, if you're interested.

I don't understand Israel and nukes anyhow. They're obviously nuclear armed, but also somewhat ambiguous about that fact. So I don't know how it functions as a deterrent if it's a secret.

My wife used to be friends in high school with this couple that ended up being super reactionary. The dude ended up getting testosterone because he couldn't get abs. He's ostensibly opposed to gender affirming care unless he's trying to be hotter. I thought this shit was hard to get? Just not for lunatics?

I scrolled down decently far, and I'm not sure I'm contributing much, but whatever. I should mention that I consider myself a centrist.

My feelings on it are basically: what does support mean here? I see people complain that we support China and Russia, and I'm not sure how people here meaningfully support them. This is a kind of liberalism in the confusion of being a good opinion haver is a form of praxis and I think it's the result of a too online leftism.

I think what really matters is not some ideological bent over who is "supported", which I guess is posted about online, but what are we doing to advance a political project that advocates for world free from oppression. We could haggle over being in the US with our lawns on Indian burial grounds, and what our place in this world is and I'm amenable to that.

My comrades are the people I know that are advancing that project, I don't care if they think it's epic and yolo that trump had hamberders at the white house or if they think he should be publicly executed, or somewhere in between.

Toddler posting (hexbear.net)

My toddler is a lovely child. I spend a lot of time with them, I lovingly refer to them as my permanent companion. I cannot step outside for a cigarette without them coming out with me. No problem, but at some point I'd like to transition them to their own bed. They sleep in ours every single night, and generally sleep much better in there and for longer.

Has anyone transitioned a kid to their own bed after a long time of co sleeping? They don't fall asleep on their own yet and I lay with them until they fall asleep, but if I try in their room it's tears until we're back in the big bed.

I am on hexbear because I like the memes. I consider myself a centrist, but I do agree with their general stance of a revolution that leads to the abolition of private property, there should be a dictatorship of the proletariat, and the complete dedication to elevating our marginalized comrades. I just try not to get political there, and it's fine really.

I know Hexbear skews very, very liberal. I haven't spent much time in other lemmy places.

I think I'm going to cut a swale in my yard. My septic tank will run chlorinated water out to it, so it'll be pretty wet. Anyone had success planting something like this? I saw some swale specific seeds online, but wondering about personal experience.

Some people leave it low and have water run up to a berm which they'll plant the other side of. Supposed to be nice for watering plants, but I don't think it'll work here.

Also want to try to plant some ditches to prevent erosion. They're real steep and generally have standing water at the bottom. I think I'll have to go with grown plants for that. I can't really imagine I'll be able to keep seeds in there without running off.

Idk, comrade. You're saying that a post regarding the inferiority of a nonwestern country posted on a notoriously racist website is racist? Have you ever considered that China bad?

Dear Prudence article. Headline says makes good money, letter directly says he doesn't make a lot of money, but isn't in poverty.
