The top right one looks like Stewie from family guy and for the life of me I can't even say why

I really hate/love that is is what actually put the size of those container ships in perspective for me. I've seen the massive liquid natural gas tankers and those things are terrifying big but like... I still didn't get the scale of these. Thanks sci-fi (look you guys that box set of TOS pays off irl!!!) 🤪

(Fr tho, anyone else have that set with the plastic curved cases with one of the uniform colors for each season? Prtty curves, infuriating snag-the-case,drop-the-DVD-on-the-floor-and-swear-and-snag-the-insert-pamphlet-closing-it-up-every-singlegoddang-time. But prtty curves)

Love Mitch and Stephen - had never heard of James Acaster but took a chance based on your list and loved him :D thanks for the rec!

As others said, house centipede! Yours looks freaky AF, but generally when they aren't... FLESHY ugh shudder, they are pretty cute little fuzzy guys! Like little dachshund/robot/Roomba/bug hybrids with a mission to patrol and keep the mean bugs away from you. Smol friend!

Thank you! You just saved me, hydration-wise.

I finally got up the motivation to use the nice water bottle I have (I needed to wash it and so it was just sitting on my bedside table for like 2 weeks and I've been thirsty and just sipping from tiny cups). Had gone out to fill it up, put it on the counter, went into the bathroom and promptly forgot it existed. Read your post, laughed to myself about how I'm the same way, and then nearly went back to bed without my water bottle. Literally the only reason I remembered it at all is thanks to you.

Hate the executive dysfunction shit. When I went of my psych I had no idea what was wrong with me and my main complaint was that I could be really thirsty and unable to make myself drink the water I wanted :(

I think it's also partially about taking something that can be associated with ... rednecks/middle America/conservatives I guess, and using it as a vehicle to try to reset people's initial reactions against stuff that would be in their interest (unions for example). It doesn't seem like it's a concerted effort to actually reach that group, so right now it's leftist memes for leftists but the potential for puncturing someone's insular bubble Via familiar substrate for the message has interesting potential!

Also maybe take a look at coppices while you're on that track! Forestry management and harvesting trees while leaving mature trees around and letting new growth come up from stumps. If folks might be doing some clay/wattle construction it would be a potential source for sustainable housing materials.

I had my test in a big snowstorm as well. Because of this the evaluator abridged the test a bit. It was a very surreal experience, I had been prepared for all of the maneuvers and instead it was mostly backing up along the curb type things.

I don't know that it was as bad as the conditions for the OP, but at least because these are new drivers and the chances are greater for bad outcomes in conditions they don't have many hours of experience in ... I would be inclined to have tests during inclement weather postponed.

Could you clarify what the joke is? Is there a pun here that I am missing picking up on?

This entire thing is absolutely fascinating.

You and that kernel were both panicking!

I also did well in school (have my Masters too!) and I got diagnosed with ADHD at around age 30 (I'm female so that made a difference in people's expectations of how it presents). Totally no need to pathologize a trait or to pursue a diagnosis even if the traits do fir you, but I did just want to chime in that there are plenty of us who managed to defy the trope of "doesn't apply themselves".

For me, I totally do what you do with hobbies! It's actually why I went into library science - ADHD is my superpower that allows me to be a generalist :P

I spent last night learning about wood pit clay firing techniques and learning about table saw safety. Why? Idk. I have Ehlers Danlos and I've had to give up sewing, spinning, etc, so it's not like I'm going to be out there making slab tables or digging my own clay but... It's REALLY fun to imagine and learn all about!

I love learning about new hobbies and I so rarely find the hobbiest of... Hobbies! Thanks for sharing :)

I guess I have the minority opinion here - I reallykme Jerboa. It's not Apollo or Sync but it's lightweight, all about the text, has bookmark, comment, up and down votes front and center, and gets out of the way.

I've also been over on kbin.social and the mobile interface there is really lacking so maybe Jerboa just looks especially good to me jn contrast!
