It's not that they now changed something with data collection and sharing within the update. They always did it, all services free of charge do it and most that cost money likely take the extra money as well.

It's now that they tell you in a short and informative way (1st sentence) and ask for your consent.

What's really infuriating, are websites and services that have an "Accept All" button but no "Reject All". Instead you have to manage individually and sometimes I have to flip 30 separate buttons to disable data sharing, where they even call advertisers a 'necessary 3rd party' requiring interaction on top.

We had this submission yesterday already and the title is very misleading. No one has to support Israel, but one state in Germany demands to recognize Israel's right to exist.

The European spendings and commitments for Ukraine are higher than US. As it should be.

Here is the tracker: https://www.ifw-kiel.de/topics/war-against-ukraine/ukraine-support-tracker/

More and more business in Sweden are refusing to work with Tesla. Suing will surely solve this problem. Big brain move there.

But that is also a lesson we all learned in life at some point. The moment you share information like that or even ask for permission, you share the responsibility. That other person might not like being (partially) responsible and therefore simply say no.

I once had a leg injury, felt good about doing a tour on the bicycle, as short distances were no problem. So I asked my doctor back then if it was OK. That moment, I shared the responsibility for my health. With my doctor being involved and a very small risk for further injury being present, he of course had no choice but to say no. No bicycle riding at all. In hindsight, not asking would have been the better option, as any risks were super small and riding worked fine. Yet, I put the burden on someone else to carry the responsibility with me instead of me alone.

tl;dr He just should have done it without saying anything. Big PR move with a spinning Ferrari going around the world... instead of this now.

Signal’s operating costs: around $40 million this year

  • $14 million a year in infrastructure costs
  • $6 million annually, goes to telecom firms to pay for the SMS text messages Signal uses to send registration codes to verify new Signal accounts’ phone numbers
  • $19 million a year or so out of Signal’s budget pays for its staff. Signal now employs about 50 people

Staff budget seem crazy high with about 50 people. That's an average of $31.666 per month per employee.

Why Vladimir Putin Is Embracing every country’s Far Right

Because they are siding with him.

And in 2024 there is the upcoming presidential election in the USA, where Russia certainly will try to influence the elections (again) and side with the far right, too.

I understand 'worst sales' but 'worst performance' doesn't really fit. It's in my opinion this is a fantastic performance on the market. With right to repair, longer software support, some models with replaceable batteries, we can use the phones longer and make the industry more sustainable and consumer friendly. For the last years already, the model feature upgrades were marginal and it's fine that way.

In the future, I'd hope for further technical and regulatory development in that direction, resulting in further reduced annual sales numbers.

This is kinda known since the war started and Lukashenko presented a map of the 'special military operation' with attack paths into all of Ukraine, as well of Moldova. It was never just a few regions of Ukraine as Russia keeps repeating, it was the whole country and more from the beginning.

Any search engine will do for: Lukashenko map attack

Original title:

Spain and Portugal could finally be getting a high-speed train link

Would be nice to not change the title, which also changes the statement.

Spanish rail operator Renfe’s plans for expansion could mean trains direct to Lisbon and Porto from Madrid

The designs for all the plans need to be finalised and approved, but still, it all sounds pretty exciting.

It's a good article, just a dumb headline.

I have a few catchy alternatives to offer: Sweden’s slam dunk military... Sweden’s AI powered military... Sweden’s mystery military power...

The article has lots of good information though regarding Sweden's leading edge military technology in multiple sectors, military structure & size and geopolitical opportunities for NATO with Russia's aggression in mind.

Finland in NATO is already a huge gain for the defence alliance. Sweden would as well lift NATO's abilities to new heights. Membership is not 100% guaranteed yet, just one step closer and a positive outlook in Turkey. Hungary already stated they would follow Turkey's position.
