"Calls for targeting the executive team, their families, homes, and places of work using a variety of online and offline means to harass, disrupt, and harm the individuals and the organizations have become widespread."

I'd argue that this is a non issue that doesn't warrant additional attention, as it only affects less than 1% of the population.

Instead, do more to combat drunk driving, that will have a bigger meaningful effect on the populace.

Fresh produce.

We have a few different grocery stores to choose from, stop and shop is the closest. But we mostly don't go there because their produce simply sucks. The selection is poor and all too often things look wilted already sitting on the shelf, and worst when you get the produce home, despite appearing ripe it'll be largely flavorless.

High quality produce makes such a big difference in the food we eat, we're willing to drive a lot further to get it.

Well, here's hoping.

Is it a twist if nobody is surprised?

Perhaps this should actually read "in grim reality, most see suspect in C.E.O. Killing as Hero or Heartthrob".

From that I'd say they have pretty good matches on him. The bad news for him is that these days with surveillance, you need to be really sneaky before you commit a crime as well as after. It's hard to cover all your tracks on the way in and on the way out.

It looks like they're getting better pictures of his face, that's real bad for him. Personally, I'm not confident he's getting away with this. It would probably be wise to leave the country asap.

Personally, I agree. But we do need to be limiting the damage trump can do. I think Biden should go the other way, do a few things that are so illegal that the SCOTUS has to start limiting the president's powers.

Perhaps a domestic drone strike or two.

We need these abstractions though, we love them, and we should! The problem isn't abstraction itself, we couldn't survive without that. The problem is in how we build these abstractions, the problem is that we create unsustainable and irresponsible abstractions and then present them as legitimate options.

But we can't throw out abstraction entirely. It's like, if a person dies in a car crash, we should ask some questions, but you don't ask "should we really have cars?", instead you ask "should that person be driving a car? And is that car safe to drive?"

I know a couple of people who had jobs working with a defense contractor. One of them justified it by saying he doesn't actually work on missile projects, his department does as air traffic control systems (and sure, there's nothing objectionable about that). But they both knew what their company did and it certainly did make it an uncomfortable place to work. You can tell yourself that these weapons only get used on bad guys, but I think the more you have to tell that story, the harder it is to hear yourself.

They've both moved on at this point.

The headline should read:

Despite best efforts and all odds, ISPs find themselves on the right side of history.

Congrats! Now you guys can use collective bargaining to ensure you're paid for every single bug you code. This is huge!

Seriously though, unions are good for the industry, I'm happy to see this is continuing at ever more software companies.

Well, I used to have an area of expertise... Then we adopted a kid.

Kids are hard. Kids who had years of neglect and trauma... can be a lot harder. I love him very much, but he takes up so much of my time and energy, I just don't have any time for my own stuff any more.

Also, my field (IT) has gotten weird as computers have gotten weird. Nobody uses computers any more, they use "devices". And these devices all suck. They're hard (or impossible) to actually back up, you can't deploy software to them in an organized way, they're a security nightmare, and the interface just isn't as easy to use as a freaking mouse and keyboard.

And if you want to talk about actual computers, those suck more every year too. Oh the hardware is improving by the day, but the software hasn't been cooperative in years. Always online operating systems, fake settings menus to keep the user away from the real settings menus... Actually, nevermind, I don't even want to talk about OSs, they make me too angry.

And then there's all the software packages that would rather be services than what they actually are, a product. Poor Adobe, just not filthy rich enough yet...

Anyway, it gets harder to do IT as computers get shittier, and I am falling behind, because I hate it.

That's a bonkers take. It's the largest and most powerful rocket in history and it's already made orbit. The raptor engines are the first full flow staged combustion engines to ever be put into a production rocket (This is a holy grail of rocketry). All estimates suggest that it's also probably much cheaper to build than any of the other heavy lift rockets. And that was accomplished while also building full reusability into the design...

The work they've done is nothing short of astounding. Which makes your take come off as either insane, blind, or biased.
