I ditched Windows for a Linux Mint just over a month ago. Best decision.

I think its 90% of users lurk, 9% comment, and only 1% create new posts. Or at least something like that

I've been in the industry for over a decade and I find it fascinating how much lighting has changed in that time. When LEDs were first available, they were $60+ per bulb. Now you can get multipacks for under $10. Also, CFL bulbs were almost universally hated by everyone (and for good reason) now we no longer sell them. We strictly sell LEDs for regular lighting and we still sell incandescent specialty bulbs. Also, when LEDs first arrived there was a lot of distain for them, especially by the elderly. They wanted their energy wasting incandescent bulbs dammit! It seems the majority of them have come around because they've learned that LEDs are better.

A good argument for open source

Why are the opinions of some random CEO of a company that isn't even named even in this article? It is irrelevant and doesn't even make me want to read the article.

What if I'm already not using it?

I use Gboard because it just works. I would like to move to a FOSS keyboard but every one I've tried become frustrating to use.

Hello everyone. I've just started the adventure of contributing to OSM and have questions. What is the etiquette when it comes to creating "areas"? As in, for example, a Walmart. Do you create an area around the entire property and level it as retail? And then the building. Do I call the building itself "Walmart" or do I just call it "shopping center" or whatever it's called and leave the Walmart part to a point? Basically what I'm asking is should buildings themselves be specific to the business or should that be left solely to the point?

I've tried using it over the years but I never liked it because there was no information. So last night I looked at my local city and there is almost no information at all. I spent a few hours last night adding buildings and restaurants and removing incorrect items. It was actually kind of fun and therapeutic and I plan to do more of it tonight. My girlfriend thinks it's dumb and I'm wasting my time because Google maps and Apple maps and Bing maps exists but she just doesn't understand open source.

Edit: Apologies, I just realized this question is not Linux specific.

Just thought I would share my N64 collection with the retro gaming community on Lemmy. Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm 36. I'm tired of everybody taking my money. I'm tired of corporations. I'm here to get away from that.

I don't see many posts here about the N64 and it doesn't look like there is an N64 community on lemmy.world It's the console I have the most nostalgia for and I have over 130 games in my collection. I'm currently playing a ROM hack called SM64: Beyond the Cursed Mirror. It has some pretty challenging platforming but it is fun.

Tempting. I've been using Bitwarden for awhile now and it's been fantastic. I am not sure I need to switch.
