There was a crazy idea a year or so ago that they would impeach Biden and somehow skip Harris and have the speaker of the House become president. Maybe that is their master plan.

Will Bunch expresses what I've been thinking since Trump was elected. American democracy is under attack from within. The fascists who yearn for an authoritarian government in the media are promoting it, and the media who supposedly don't support it fail to recognize it. They are busy trying to follow the political playbook of the 20th century.

Although I'd love to see the buildings of the Acropolis I would never go anywhere that has 20,000 visitors a day. Nope.

I don’t understand how the police decided this guy hadn’t planned to attack a church for racist reasons. Sounds like they didn’t find evidence at his house about his intention to attack a black church, but that doesn’t preclude racism as a reason.

This point will be lost in the reaction to this new approach. These people have been paying back their debt for a long time. Errors have been made. Relief is on the way.

I am so relieved that the special prosecutor is defending the rule of law with these indictments. If the Republicans (and not just Trump) got away with trying to overturn the election we could lose our democracy. We still can, but at least they are going to trial against this would-be tyrant and some of the people who helped him.

I like the way you phrased that. Maybe the rebranding will help people realize the thing they knew as Twitter is gone.

I guess we need to know what people consider long. The full document is longer than the Declaration of Independence , which I know a lot better. I can’t remember having to read the Constitution in school, just the preamble and a couple of amendments. This doesn’t excuse my ignorance though. Thanks for providing the whole document.

This is exactly their process, if their constituents swallow this as acceptable then feed them the next, slightly worse thing. Slavery was horrible and we haven’t recovered from it as a nation.

I know that the international ultra conservative movement wants to erase LBGTQ rights, but this is one I hadn’t considered. Chiseling away the rights of gay parents in order to jealously guard the “traditional” family is mean and stupid.

Wikipedia is more accurate “convicted serial child molester”. Why does the media downplay his crimes?

I am wrestling about this as a resident of Florida. Both my kids are leaving. My trans son is leaving next week and can't use a public bathroom on the way out of the state without causing confusion or chancing arrest. The state doesn't deserve him, Maryland does. As for my husband and I, I just don't know.

Not an expert, but here is where I set up a recurring donation. Apparently Mastadon.world and Lemmy.world are run by the same admins. Took me a while to understand this, please correct me if I'm wrong.
