When he tested the look at outdoor Los Angeles shopping mall The Grove, “Nobody recognized me,” Bacon said. But the tide evidently soon turned. “People were kind of pushing past me, not being nice. Nobody said, ‘I love you.’ I had to wait in line to, I don’t know, buy a f***ing coffee or whatever. I was like, This sucks. I want to go back to being famous.”

Lmao this has to be a joke. Is this really what life is like for these people? No one said "I love you" to a stranger at the mall? He had to wait in lines? Maybe the most eye-opening thing about this is that Kevin seemed to expect to be treated more or less the same way he is as a celebrity, just without the selfies, which says to me that he thought everyone gets treated the same way famous people do. Sometimes it's interesting to get a reminder of how out of touch these people really are.

Didn't Netanyahu say just the other day that there'd be no ceasefire until his war goals in Palestine had been achieved?

It sucks that they turned this into a story about how great mass surveillance is

You literally admit to being owned, and yet think that to free ourselves of that ownership is to hurt the civil rights of our owners? That’s some real obsequious and subservient shit right there. They hold an absurd amount of power over you and all you can think to say is “won’t somebody please think of the wealthy???”

That’s like saying it’s against a thief’s civil rights when you come to take back what they stole from you.

The rich control where you get to live, how much you get to eat, they control how much you earn, they destroy the Earth for profit, they pay no taxes, they write the laws (which also makes it easier for them to imprison you), they run the government, they detest you and view you as lesser-than, they withhold food/shelter/water/etc. up to and including death if you can’t pay, they steal your wages, they hoard wealth to the detriment of others, they fight to reduce benefits to the poor, and much, much more. Somehow, the conclusion you’ve reached is if we put an end to all that, it would violate their civil rights? That’s an absolutely garbage take, how blind can you be? Has it never crossed your mind that the rich are violating your civil rights even as I type this? Like, they literally run your whole life, you think they don’t leverage that against our own rights? If bringing them to the same level as everyone else seems like cruel and unusual punishment, then what about the people who have to live in instability every day as a result of the damage the rich have wrought?

The Nazis did all that stuff, too. Were their civil rights violated by the resistance and the allies? Same for the apartheid government of South Africa, what of them? I suppose Nelson Mandela must have been a great oppressor in your mind when he went to war with apartheid, seeing as the ruling class could no longer wield power of that kind over the people.

Whenever I get a capcha of anyone on a vehicle, I always make it a point to highlight the entirety of the driver too because I’m not going to just let Google train its self-driving vehicles to just ignore that every motorcycle has a rider on it.

You can’t just casually mention that the whole house has to be moved to another location and not even say why.

Sounds like Europeans need to step up on being a dumpster fire if they want as much coverage as us. Be the change you want to see in the world!

Perhaps in the short term regarding albedo, though IR still largely shines through. Once the smoke dissipates soon though, it’ll be back to “normal”, except now with a large boost in CO2 levels, leading to more heating. Except it won’t be normal because the blackened forests then decrease the albedo even further than it was before. Burnt forests also get less snowpack, which again further reduces albedo. Anyone who’s dealt with heavy wildfire smoke knows the smoke tends to trap heat under it like a big blanket, too.

Wildfires (especially as big as we see them today) are definitely a net bad thing for the environment, health, communities, etc.

Yeah, definitely not. "Tankie" isn't some mostly meaningless word like "woke", it's a very specific belief in authoritarian self-declared, so-called "communist" states (USSR, China, North Korea, et al).

They claim to be for revolution and then turn around and give 100% blind obedience to the newly installed leaders. Pointing out their immense power or bad actions gets you called brainwashed, a reactionary, or counter-revolutionary. They win gold in mental gymnastics in regards to how the new ruling class totally doesn't count as a ruling class, how the state doesn't count as a state, how the money doesn't count as money, and how it's still communism even though not a single one of those prerequisites has ever been met.

They don't take down systems of oppression, they replace them and refuse to believe it isn't the greatest idea anyone's ever had. Here's a hint: if your "revolutionary" party demands absolute loyalty, they probably aren't as great as they say.

It’s really not as big of a deal as it seems, especially with swift medical care, which it sounds like they got. Even the US has several cases of bubonic plague every year basically without fail.

No, this timeline started with “Shit, our calculations show that we might ruin the world in just a few decades at this rate. Oh, well. Probably best not to mention this to anyone.”

It appears that a user by the name of Kalcifer on lemmy.world is using several smurf accounts to force in a Gadsden flag (175, 175), the same carried by violent Proud Boy thug types, such as Alan Swinney, Enrique Tarrio, Tiny Toese, Joe Biggs, and many others, which I don't feel should be represented here, and it's clear that many agree because there were many who rejected the art and attempted to cover it, but it seems Kalcifer couldn't take that. I think it’s clear that he’ll just make more smurfs, so I’d suggest an IP ban from the canvas, but barring that, I think it would be funny if people tried to thwart his attempts to cheat his way in because it flies in the face of everyone who’s had to put in the time to do it right.

Probable alts include at least the following:

u/anonymous1691293996

u/anonymous1691294527

u/anonymous1691295108

u/anonymous1691296202

All were registered to lemmy.world within the last hour or two, which coincides with the return of Kalcifer after a short break, and all place in rapid succession of each other, displaying eyebrow-raising levels of coordination.
