Sonic block has started!

[-] Die4Ever@programming.dev 1 points 6 days ago

I've been using AviDemux, but this seems like it's probably better?

[-] Die4Ever@programming.dev 3 points 6 days ago

The Sonic block should be really good as usual. Doom 64 is cool, Quake 2, Half-Life 2, StarCraft.

A LITERAL DOG playing Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZixOslQIgc

Morrowind (All Main Quests) should be good, we usually see Any% which is too quick because the game is very exploitable lol.

Zelda Link to the Past - All Dungeons (Swordless) should also be cool, this game has a huge variety of glitches so when you do awkward categories like this you really see them all demonstrated.

Mario World Kaizo Relay Race should be fun. Also look out for the Mario 64 Randomizer played blindfolded!

We also have a silly games block starting with Golf It!, then Monster Party, Birds Aren't Real: The Game, and more.

I feel the same way about the prequels, but I think the original game is the best game ever made.

ESPN has an esports section too lol https://www.espn.com/esports/ it seems to be abandoned though

pretty funny to see Sports Illustrated doing an article about this https://www.si.com/esports/speedrunning/summer-games-done-quick-starts

seems like they have a branch "Esports Illustrated"

Once upon a time, in a galaxy not so far away (this one, in fact), a few internet rebels decided that they were tired of the corporate overlords controlling their online lives. Thus, the fediverse was born — an attempt to wrest control of microblogging services, such as Twitter and its ilk, away from centralized powers and into the hands of the people.

This was a fun one!

Isn't this what upvotes and downvotes are for? Do they only want posts about billionaire mega corporations? 10% is a really strict cutoff for people that make things as a hobby. What else am I gonna post when everything else is already posted instantly? I can't post to r/pcgaming for the same reason.

I'm not trying to sell anything, it's a free download, my videos aren't monetized, I don't accept donations. I'm an active commenter too even if I don't make many posts there. My posts get lots of upvotes with good ratios, and I space out my posts so they're not frequent at all.

Also the fact that they count it site-wide instead of sub-wide means if you create your own sub or use an appropriate niche sub, you're gonna screw up your own ratio.

SmashManiac originally ran the site but recently converted it into an open source project. Here's the announcement

You can view the new open source version of the site here

It's still early in the transition but I've converted it into a Jekyll build based on yaml data. Unfortunately I've been mostly working alone, we'd love some more contributors! If you know any of: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Jekyll, or Liquid templates then check out the Github and maybe submit some pull requests to help us out

We'd like to keep the project simple, but here's our issues list for ideas

I think it's just a comparison because during the Reddit Exodus people often suggested Discuit instead of Lemmy because ActivityPub is "too complicated". So I guess this is a good demonstration that federation really is our best hope at replacing the big billionaire social media platforms.

As another point of reference vs Discuit's 6,787 registered users, Lemmy has 1,904,195 registered users. Kbin has 66,175, and Mbin has 5,453 registered users.

They just needed to offer lots of storage so they could kill off Dropbox, now that it's mostly dead for consumers, it's time for Google to make money with their monopoly. Even though storage prices have gone way down.

Lemmy needs more tools to help avoid defederation. Like the admins being able to block communities (defederating a community interested of the entire instance), or hide posts from a community/instance from c/All so people who are still subscribed or manually search can still find the posts

Also users should be able to block instances just for themselves, just posts or comments as well
