I think his lawsuit is valid and that Amazon really did steal his work, because those titles are derivative mulch and The Rings Of Power is a snoozefest.

[–] DroneRights@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

Well in that case I do believe Rings of Power plagiarised it, because ROP is trash too

[–] DroneRights@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, and that's why white people are richer than black people today, even though slavery ostensibly ended 200 years ago. It's time that we outlaw this behaviour.

Also Sherlock Holmes. Now, the BBC might have done a terrible job, but a lot of other people have written great stories because Sherlock Holmes is in the public domain

Another character in the public domain is Zeus, and the rest of his family. Liked Disney's Hercules? Supergiant's Hades? Netflix's Blood of Zeus? Riordan's Percy Jackson? Only possible because of public domain.

A word isn't a thought. Thoughts are unique, but a word can be arrived at independently in several different ways by the sea spelled with a C, you see.

They named the trans girl character Ryan. You know how in Harry Potter books everyone's referred to by their last name? Well she's Ryan. That's not inclusive. That's a writing decision and it doesn't look good.

Which makes sense, given that the lead developer for most of development was a member of fucking gamergate.

What you will notice is the law changing.

Meta is already evil and has been for years. You don't get back with your abusive ex and say "I'll leave him if he hits me again", you get that fucker out of your life. Meta is the internet's abusive ex

Gmail killed the popularity of most email services. Don't let Threads end up like Gmail

It's not just the data collection, it's also the data presentation. Meta controls how information is presented on their platforms. Remember how I was talking about making seemingly random changes to influence society? Social platforms are how Meta makes those changes. They can control what gets upvotes on Facebook and Threads. If Threads is federated with Moist Catsweat, then they influence what content is visible from the Hot and Active pages of Moist Catsweat. That means they don't just control the political opinions of everyone you talk to, they can influence you. Show you memes and news articles that make you more likely to vote for Trump or Brexit or whatever it is in your country.

I said gender neutral pronouns exist. I said they/them is a non-gendering pronoun. Non-gendering pronouns and gender neutral pronouns are the same thing. You cannot gender someone with a gender neutral pronoun. You cannot gender someone correctly with a gender neutral pronoun. You cannot gender someone incorrectly with a gender neutral pronoun. You cannot gender someone correctly, incorrectly, otherwise, or even at all with a gender neutral pronoun.

All of Hexbear has bad reading comprehension.

Half of them heard me say "you can't gender someone incorrectly with they/them" and hates me for always using they/them.

Half of them heard me say "you can't gender someone correctly with they/them" and hates me for never using they/them.

The amount I use they/them is not always, and it is not never. I use they/them when someone's preferred pronouns are they/them, or when I don't know someone's preferred pronoun and can't find the information. Hexbear refuses to believe it, but there are lots of examples of this on this sublemmy. It's pretty concretely proven.

I said they/them doesn't gender people because it's a gender neutral pronoun. Hexbear's admins removed this comment. Look, it's right here in the modlog:

Removed Comment "They" is a non gendering pronoun. If you use they/them, you'll never misgender anyone, but you'll also never gender anyone correctly either. Some people are okay with not being gendered and some people aren't. You should respect their wishes once you've heard them, but I don't believe you have any obligation to check them in advance.
by DroneRights [it/its] reason: enbyphobia

Then, the admins banned me for this, and other left-wing comments they feel were reactionary. Look, it's right here:

Banned DroneRights [it/its]
reason: multiple instances of reactionary takes

In conclusion: Hexbear banned me for saying gender neutral pronouns exist. This evidence is indisputable. If you'd like to dispute it, you're welcome to, as long as you read all of this post and don't lie. If you want to suggest an alternate reading of events, you'd better have evidence.

It is well known that I was banned from Hexbear for this comment, among others:

"They" is a non gendering pronoun. If you use they/them, you'll never misgender anyone, but you'll also never gender anyone correctly either. Some people are okay with not being gendered and some people aren't. You should respect their wishes once you've heard them, but I don't believe you have any obligation to check them in advance.

Let's be clear about the meaning here. I stated, in the clearest terms possible, that you will not misgender me by calling me they/them.

@Outdoor_Catgirl@hexbear.net responds to me being called they/them with:

Let’s not misgender even enbyphobic weirdos.

Catgirl obiously thinks it's misgendering to call me they/them. In contradiction with my directly and famously stated pronoun preferences. What could possibly be more libshit than incorrectly correcting someone's pronouns? Catgirl seeks to align my understanding of my gender with her preferences, ignoring mine even while claiming to defend me. What a transphobic liberal.

@SexUnderSocialism@hexbear.net wants everyone to stop "fuelling" my "narcissism". Now, maybe Sex understands NPD. Maybe she's upset that I'm being abused with slurs and transphobia and knows that abuse exacerbates mental illness. But based on the wording, I think it's far more likely she buys into the ableist trope that the negative aspect of NPD is the grandiosity, and she thinks that by abusing me, Hexbear is feeding my ego. This is a very harmful trope used to abuse narcissists, and I would appreciate some clarification, Sex.

@BeamBrain@hexbear.net complains that they were called an ableist for their treatment of me when I first joined Hexbear. Now, I don't remember Beam Brain specifically, but I can assure you the only ableism I talked about was the slurs and stereotypes directed against narcissists. Beam Brain, are you upset that the rare and dwindling progressive elements on Hexbear called you an ableist for using slurs?

I can't tell if it was the admins of Hexbear or the mods of Neurodiverse who did this, but they removed a comment stating that people of my gender deserve the same rights as anyone else. If the Hexbear mods and admins think that trans acceptance is an "epic troll" and needs to be removed, then they are transphobes. Nobody who accepts trans people would be offended by seeing trans acceptance. But the Hexbear mods were.

@FuckyWucky@hexbear.net claims people with NPD have a tendency to be abusive. Although Fucky Wucky admits we can choose not to be abusive, they are still spreading a negative and dehumanising stereotype that has no clinical evidence.

@CommunistLady@lemmy.blahaj.zone has no activity on her four-month old profile, except for harassing me. She came to lib.lgbt to defend Blahaj and Hexbear's transphobia, and try to manipulate the admins while lying about doing so. Notably, they think a gay person's username being a joke about how gay they are is transphobia. Apparently being gay is offensive to these people. This is the typical Hexbearian behaviour pattern of calling a queer person's existence queerphobic, because Hexbear hates queerness that does not fall within the neat little lines of respectability politics and normativity.

Big thank you to @Veraticus@lib.lgbt for standing up for me and taking no bullshit. I have made a post on lemmy.blahaj.zone asking that this account which seems only to exist for harassment be banned. However I do not expect Ada to take action due to her previous transphobic comments and general acceptance of reactionary content on her site.

Some transphobes may complain that calling out transphobia directed at a specific individual is harassment. This is nonsense. If anyone is called out on this community, it is because they were making bigoted comments about a specific person. Because they were harassing someone. Opposing harassment is not harassment.

In terms of rules that people are expected to follow here, the rules are simple: If you've realised maybe hating someone for being trans is a bad idea and you're here to understand my admittedly difficult-to-understand political views, you are welcome. I know that leftist theory can be intimidating and it's okay to ask for help. But if you're here to be transphobic, homophobic, kinphobic, ableist, or otherwise bigoted, then coming to this space to spew forth your garbage is harassment, and you will be banned.

@barrbaric@hexbear.net and @kot@hexbear.net claim my brain is broken and I hate communists. So I'd like to say that I'm a communist. Specifically an anarchist, and more specifically than that a soulist. I believe in worker ownership of the means of production and the abolition of money, class, and state.

I accuse hexbear of pinkwashing because of all the transphobia and homophobia its users and admins direct at me on a regular basis. You shouldn't call your website queer-accepting if you do things like that.

While commenting on a thread mocking me, @SkingradGuard@hexbear.net called me a lib and complained I can't imagine anyone to the left of me existing. This is a ridiculous take, because my far-left views continually confused Hexbear users and provoked aggression while I was there. They believed my gender to be so niche it could only be the work of trolls making fun of queer people. And they disagreed heavily with my assertion "you shouldn't use slurs against mentally ill people". There's even someone saying I have the "being evil" mental disorder in that thread, as I discussed in another post.

The sheer hubris and ignorance it takes to call someone a lib who doesn't understand leftism, because they dislike a lib instance that called them a troll for being leftist, is astounding. This is a profoundly ignorant comment and truly encapsulates the arrogance and refusal to self-crit of Hexbear. They are the ones who do not understand far-left positions like "gender neutral pronouns exist" and "whiteness is a social construct" for which I was banned. For me to be further left than them can only mean I am a troll and a lib. Fucking shitlibs.

Oh, and calling a neurodivergent person insane. Because I guess we had to squeeze some ableism in there somehow.

@Orannis62@hexbear.net thinks I they/them people who don't use those pronouns. And then ze found a picture of me saying not to do that, because it's not correct gendering. I even said "you should respect their wishes once you've heard them. And having made this claim and found this picture where I said the opposite, ze then procceeded to brag about how ze was "right". Truly, the queer literacy level of Hexbear users is undergound.
