I actually just like the smell of it brewing. Heavenly.

Tastes like shit, though.

Sadly, there was also a box of Cheerios on the table, just not in this particular screenshot.

I'm still a little surprised that after Trump tried to subvert the election results in GA in 2020 that anybody would be willing to still vote for him in that state. I can't imagine many Biden voters having forgotten that particular incident. My hope is that they've held onto that anger silently and plan to turn out in November.

Another commenter made a very good point - Trump signs in MAGA country are safe. Biden or Harris signs in MAGA country are like asking for trouble. The conservative crowd is far more likely to commit acts of political violence, and virtually all of the south is a safe haven for Trumpism and conservative extremism. I can't blame anybody for not wanting to do yard signs. Especially since a lot of people find yard signs to be obnoxious no matter who you support.

Off the top of my head - male, female and nonbinary meet the criteria of "at least three" and are probably the most well known. But I imagine a straightforward answer like that would not have satisfied some right wing mouthpiece and they would then intentionally try to conflate sex with gender to make Biden look bad when they take it out of context on the evening news (not that proper context would have mattered to the people watching it anyway).

If something is locked behind plexiglass at a store, I simply won't buy it. The few times I have because I was desperate for it and didn't want/couldn't wait for the online shipping, I always had to stand there in the aisle awkwardly waiting for an overworked employee who probably wasn't getting paid enough to come unlock it for me. Feels bad and just makes me want to buy online every time rather than waste a trip to CVS or Home Depot or wherever they're locking shit up now.

Oh yeah, I hated the answer he gave too, but it was pretty clear he wasn't expecting the question either. It was a bad answer and a mistake, but definitely one of the less egregious mistakes his campaign had been making in the weeks leading up to his departure from the campaign trail. At it's core, being satisfied with doing your best is a sentiment most people can agree with, but one that falls short of what we actually needed. It did not resonate with the people who were upset with him at the time. We needed Biden to be ruthless after his debate disaster, but he was still playing softball at the major leagues.

I give him a pass for that statement. Biden was running on the platform of election trust and legitimacy. How else does he answer the question? "No, and I'll fight tooth and nail to dispute the results if Trump wins?". Maybe the democratic base would have loved to hear that, but it's mixed messaging that would have been used as ammunition against him. He's the President of the United States. He has to project confidence in the system, which means trying hard to win, but stopping right on the dot at "doing your best" and accepting the will of the people, even if it's a distasteful outcome for everyone involved.

A girl in college once told me I have "beautiful, horse-like legs". I did martial arts at the time and my calves and thighs were very well toned, but I was actually a little self-conscious about them, and I had never considered horses to be particularly beautiful so I kind of took it as an insult after walking away from the conversation. It wasn't until I relayed the story to a colleague a few months later that they told me it was probably a genuine compliment.

Trump using the language of a tyrant is not an accident. When people say that democracy is on the line this election, we're not being hyperbolic, we're saying that because of statements like this. Please get out there and vote this November.

In other news, Colorado confirmed most patriotic state in the union.

If a few more states follow suit, even if they are "safe blue" states, the GOP will have no choice but to drop Trump and pick up the next best candidate. Winning local elections is way more important for Republican-aligned agendas to continue forward, but if people won't turn out because Trump is off the ballot, it'll be a blue wave of lower offices flipping. They'll need to work fast to push the "Trump Bad, X Good" where X is whatever conservative sock puppet they prop up to take his place in hopes of saving their chances at maintaining a multi-state hegemony on state congressional seats.

I've never spoken with a Tesla employee, current or former, who hasn't corroborated this information about working conditions. Doesn't matter if you are a line worker in the factory or an engineer in the design offices, you are expected to put work above all else, keep your nose down and your mouth shut.

I'll never buy a Tesla because of the shit that I've heard about how they treat their employees there, let alone that dipshit Musk spouting off about full self driving and never following through.

Hello everyone,

There has been a lot of new traffic to Lemmy in the past few weeks due to the turmoil at Reddit. A lot of you may be Reddit refugees, like I am, and are missing their old favorite subs right about now.

I think it's more important than ever for regular users to step up and take an active role in rebuilding their communities, and I wasn't sure that things would ever get going unless somebody stepped up to the plate and made the effort, and I didn't want to wait around for someone else to take the initiative when I already had a strong desire to see this sort of content brought over to Lemmy.

Now that the first step has been taken, I'm inviting others who might be interested in building or managing this community to join me in making this the best version of asksciencefiction possible.

I have never been affiliated with /r/asksciencefiction or even been a moderator at reddit before. Preferably, I would like to hand off ownership of this community to somebody who has a strong desire to build and grow the community and enforce the rules. If that sounds like something you are interested in, please don't hesitate to send me a private message.

Thank you!
