I think we are a long, long ways off before we could even get to the 'could' phase of the discussion, let alone asking if we should.

I've thrown in about $40 total since I joined. I should do monthly but I'm trying to cut down on subscriptions since I have a bad habit of signing up for a bunch and forgetting to cancel. I'll try to make sure I actively donate regularly though as long as I'm using the instance. I appreciate the effort the admins have gone into making this instance and I want to do my part to help ease potential stress on the financial side at least

I'd add Halo 4 to that list. I think people just lost interest in the series over time in favor of new ones that have popped up.

I didn't really like the story in 4, 5 or infinite all that much. I honestly don't like most of the multiplayer maps in the newer games either. I don't think the new games are terrible but ever since Bungie left they don't have the same charm to them. Like Halo 2 seeing the scarab for the first time, or the different locales on Halo you'd travel to in order to unravel the mystery of the ring. In infinite you go into a bunch of nondescript towers as Cortana speaks gibberish and the brute guy keeps monologuing at you repeatedly. It was just obnoxious.

Well i know mods at stackoverflow were wanting to mutiny because the owners wanted to start incorporating AI responses to questions posted there or something like that

I've never heard of the term eternal september until now, that's pretty neat. Makes me wonder what 1980s usenet groups/conversations looked like. I wonder if DOS or other OS's at the time had a navigable interface for it

I don't use mastodon, but it would be cool if they found a way to display so that the top level topic would be a tweet and the comments would be like reply tweets to it (I don't know what the mastodon equivalent to tweet is)

I agree in 98% of cases. There are some cases (and this is splitting hairs so i apologize) where i'm fine with it. I think preservation for some near lost media that hasn't been purchasable for a long time (and maybe is tied to 30-40 year old hardware that isn't supported or buyable from the producing company anymore) i think is an exception i'm willing to make. This is particularly prevalent to older games that are tied to long defunct devices that aren't supported anymore like very old dos games.

But I'm also of the opinion those things shouldn't have to be "pirated" in the first place and if you haven't offered the ability to acquire it legally in decades it should fall into public domain.

I quite liked them at first but how many do we need? It's become so over saturated and I've long burned out of the genre.

They also take 15 minutes loading through their awful bloated menus just so you can play a game. Yeah sports games are awful these days and they used to be the games I played the most

We've become increasingly the minority on this but I agree wholeheartedly.

Most of my twitter engagement comes from links on reddit funny enough (usually sports related). There's still a few people im interested in following as well so i'll poke my head in here and there. But yeah i certainly don't blame people for leaving the platform entirely. I just try to steer clear of the toxic stuff (which is very tough if you spend longer than 5 minutes on it)
