32% coal vs 39% renewables, with natural gas making up the majority of the remainder - https://www.eia.gov/state/?sid=CO#tabs-4
South Park fell off for me right when Trump got elected. The world just got too absurd for South Park to properly make fun of at that point, I suspect.
What a terrible take.
First off, unironically yes on account of higher efficiency in electric engines over combustion engines.
Second, what grids still run on 100% coal? And why would they keep doing that long-term, given that coal is just shit on its own merits?
Oí! You got a license for that sword?
But muh scaling
Completely ridiculous as far as solutions go - the only reason the cars are going too fast in the first place is because the very same government overbuilt the road.
So the alternative to not overbuild the road, saving plenty of money in the process, was always there. This just wastes money then wastes a little bit more to add insult to injury.
An anecdote fully lacking in relevance on account of there being larger cities than Los Angeles which do not at all have the same problems efficiently moving their populations where they need to go.
It's all about the transportation infrastructure.
I was previously convinced that taking cold showers was my only saving grace during hot summers, but this year I got the advice to try to take a warm shower a short while before bed, and I'm surprised to say that it has helped. This is for high 20s though so YMMV for sure.
Other things that help:
- Open windows when outdoor temperature is lower than indoor temperature, and try to get a cross breeze going if possible
- Keep light out of the house by closing blinds during the day
- Wear linen clothing and use linen bedding, this material works better for warm conditions
- Fans help reduce perceived temperature by several degrees
Yank tanks truly are the peakest of cringe. I'd be embarrassed to show up in one of those things
And you can reverse the process, pumping heat inside instead, even when it's freezing outside! Magic, I tell you.
