Well you know what they say, the camera adds 10 lbs.

We shared a laugh about it after our little interaction.

I do the same thing when they get packages, we've been doing this little joke (and a few others) for years now.

For those curious the item over the ostrich's face is a Graflex Speed Graphic 4x5 camera. Mine is not in as good of condition and needs some TLC, but not only was I expecting that I'm happy to see that I'm going to have to service it. I like to fix things lol

That's one I've looked at for sure, it's a nice little camera no doubt!

More options is always good (they can miss me with that gen AI trash though)

I wonder how easy it is to use compared to GIMP or Krita?

(I still suck with Krita but that's a me thing lol)

I don't plan to buy another one any time soon... but what's the harm in knowing which one I'll buy next?

Just gotta service the ones I got before I can justify buying another old AF film camera.

Maybe one that actually takes 35mm film instead of 120 or 4x5...

It literally starts in downtown in one major city, cuts through uninhabited wilderness, then around the state capital (but not in it) to another major city's downtown core. Oh and grabs a third downtown core out to the east as well after going through another uninhabited wilderness.

EDIT: There are worse ones in the US, but this one (literally) hits close to home.

Audacity does as well and I use it to edit pictures sometimes.

Yes pictures.

You can get some interesting effects from it.

The shaft was only a 7.3?!?

Well we know what they're into...

My favorite is when I go through this, think I didn't make it, then open the microwave to see my cup of now cold tea.

Yeah the 22LR is for fun for me not for defense. The 5.56 and 30-06 are quite expensive per shot by comparison so they're shot less for fun and more for making sure I'm still skilled with them.

9mm Parabellum

I've never heard 9mm referred to as that (had to look it up to be sure) but yeah 9mm and 5.56 NATO rounds are great choices as they're available basically anywhere here in the states. So is 30-06, 308, and 22LR.

Personally I've got guns that take 5.56, 30-06, and 22LR. The 22LR are consistently the cheapest ones to shoot and I usually buy them by the box of 500. Among my friend group the only deviation is those that have handguns, they've got guns that take 9mm and 38 special as well.

Remember folks: don't just buy it, train with it.

And if you can get like minded friends to do the same even better.

Personally I'm not a fan of handguns, I prefer rifles but both are good at poking holes.

Also be sure to pick a firearm that takes a common type of round, the last thing you need to worry about is trying to find some obscure round type when you need it.

Born too late to die in war over oil, born too early to die in war over oil, born just in time to die in war over oil.

excitedly checks the news

Damn.

I'm joking of course, no good financial decisions are made by me at 2am.

I bought a large format film camera from 1939. Specifically a 4x5 film camera.

And I technically bought it about a week ago (at 2am), and it's due to arrive between tomorrow and Monday.

I've shot a decent amount of medium format film before this (even developing it myself) but I have 0 experience with large format.

Worst case scenario I restore it and eventually sell it, best case scenario my photography hobby broadens further into more formats.

The good news is that my boss is being understanding about the whole "unplanned adjusting of my meds" thing, so that's a plus

(my pharmacy was out of my meds (even though I put in my refill request 2 weeks prior) and I had to get them almost 48 hours after running out (Monday) so it's been a rough start to the week)

(Also a friend sent me this meme this morning asking if this basically described how my week was going, once I finished laughing I told him that yes, yes it was)

At least I got them to chuckle when I said, "With the rate I'm going do I get like a stamp card and the 5th diagnosis free?"
