Was there any more clarification on whether this instance would "defederate" from Meta? I remember reading about it ~5 months ago and posting a general query. IIRC the response was "we'll cross that bridge if/when we get to it".

I only have very basic knowldge of how the fediverse works, but does this mean Meta (Threads) is connected on lemmy ?

This sucks, my 10 yr old dog is 2/3 of the way through a 9kg bag 😵‍💫 Update: I was able to swap it for a new 9kg bag. Our original bag wasn't affected by mould luckily

Enshittification strikes again

"But the system is broken. Audiences are dumber. Normal people don’t go through reviews like they used to. Rotten Tomatoes is something the studios can game. So they do.”

Seems like alot of people agree with your take. Despite its flaws, viewers found it and the sequel entertaining. I can't see it working as a novel though.

Being somewhat new to trek, I bought the Picard movie & tv collection box set prior to season 1 airing and thoroughly enjoyed it. Might be a good time to revisit these + picard series😊

Is that chidy 🤣

I quite enjoy having my favourite films and tv series on physical discs. Especially with streamers removing content with little/ no notice. Plus the internet in parts of australia can be an issue for streaming.

There have been recent reports that Disney was going reverse and bring back physical media

Could be similar to the "vault" strategy. Make physical copies scarce then drip feed us limited edition releases.

Thanks I will keep an eye out for updates. For this user federating with meta would feel like assimilating with the borg.

For anyone interested in learning more about space archaeology there's a great episode of the ologies podcast "space archaeology - space junk with Dr Alice Gorman"

The last remaining sand mine on Minjerribah (worlds second largest sand island) closed in 2019. It will take a long time to rehabilitate the sand mining sites, they've left "scars" on the island. IIRC some locals were concerned about the loss of jobs. It will be interesting to see if this will be resumed in some form, if sand really is becoming a rare commodity.
